3 Weeks 2 Days

Katie has a belly button!  She lost her cord on Thursday, exactly 3 weeks old.  It was barely attached, and Jon helped it along by cutting the remainder of it.

She is almost done with her antibiotics, and goes back to the doctor on Wednesday again for a follow up.  I was convinced the other day that I saw thrush in her mouth, so I ordered a bottle of Gentian Violet from Walgreen's.  I picked it up today, but now I don't think she has thrush, I think it was a film of formula.

I was able to put her to the breast today, and she did really well latching on.  She still seems to be sucking incorrectly, but I know she will learn eventually.

More to come soon!

5 Weeks 6 Days

Life with Katie Bean sure is busy around here!  I am not complaining!  She is just the sweetest little thing, and I could stare at her for hours!  She is doing great, growing leg rolls and double chins!  Last night Jon went to kiss her and got a good mouthful of baby puke!  Usually stuff like that doesn't bother him, but after a few minutes he said baby puke has a horrible aftertaste!  He was greatly funny!

Everything's going fine here.  I have to have a root canal on Friday, which I am not at all thrilled about, but this tooth is in a great deal of pain so I know it needs to be done.  Thank goodness for nitrous oxide.  More soon...

9 Weeks!

I certainly can't believe Katie is already 9 weeks old!  Time sure does fly looking back!  I am back to work now.  I really did not think it would be as hard as it actually was.  Monday morning I thought I was doing OK dropping Katie off for her first day of day care, then walking back to the baby room, the tears started falling.  I was crying by the time I left day care and headed to work, cried the whole way to work.  I called to check on her after being at work for 20 minutes!

I still miss her like crazy, and I am extremely thankful that she is eager to nurse by the time I get her home.  I worried that being in day care would make it more difficult.  But, she has been nursing for about an hour when we get home, quite contendedly.  It helps her and I reconnect while I talk to Jacob and Alexa about their days.

I am still pumping at work, and in a 24 hour period I pump/nurse 10-11 times.  My milk supply has doubled since a few weeks ago, which is nice.  It is still not plentiful, I get an ounce from each breast per pumping, but that is more than I was getting.  I am just thankful for what I am able to give her.
