My Tubal Reversal Story Page 5 |
I wish for the weekends to fly by! During the week at work, I am usually so busy that the days go by quickly. But all weekends do is give you time to sit and think and be impatient. As far as the drive home, and how we are planning that - we bought a queen size egg crate mattress and a nylon sleeping bag to fold up in back of the Jeep for me to lie down on. It seems like it'll be all right for comfort, and hopefully with the pain medication I will be able to travel some sitting up front. Dr. Levin did tell me he will give me some Valium for the trip home since I am a very nervous traveler in a car, especially if I will be lying down and not able to watch the road. I hope that helps. I will just be glad when we are back home safely. I am going to miss the kids so much, I can't even think about it without getting sad. I know they will be well taken care of while we are gone, but I will still miss them terribly. I set up a voicemail account so they can leave us a voicemail if they want to while we are gone. We are also planning on buying calling cards so we can call home and they can call us whenever they want to. On the work front, Tonya is still here, much to my dismay. The good thing is, Curtis is pretty fed up with her, and is getting closer to letting her go. Jackie and I have been sitting with her while she works to learn how she does things, with the excuse of "if she ever goes on vacation, someone will have to do her job." I think she may be getting suspicious lately, though. Jackie says a couple more weeks and she will be ready to cut her loose. In a way, I am looking forward to it, and hoping that I get that big raise that Curtis dangled in front of me (he gave me a $3,000 raise last month). In other ways, it frightens me. I know I can handle the extra responsibility of her duties as long as I can give some of mine away, but I also do not want anything to interfere with us going for surgery. Curtis has already approved my vacation, but I guess if it came down to it he could change his mind. I plan on just going along like everything is business as usual and not mentioning the vacation again yet. 23 April 2001 40 more days until we leave. Tick tock, tick tock. Goodness, but it does crawl by now! We had a great weekend this past weekend. We all went out to Jeff's and had a barbecue and shot some guns. Sounds like a Redneck Saturday! But, it was so much fun! Michelle lent us her laptop to take with us so we can e-mail them and the kids, but it was not cooperating last night. A few of the keys wouldn't work, but she said this morning that it has done that before, so I will try fixing it tonight. She said to bang the keys - that will be hard since it is not mine and I would shoot myself if I broke it. 2 May 2001 Well, another milestone...we can finally say my surgery is NEXT month!! We leave for Kentucky in 31 days! Not a whole lot has been happening lately, except that the Jeep was overheating on Monday when I went to the bank. I opened the hood when I got back to work and sure enough, there was water squirting around the engine compartment. I played it safe and had it towed to Corder's. It ended up being a freeze plug that had rusted out and had to be replaced, and a belt needed to be replaced as well. |
