They wheeled me out into the hall and finally after all that time I got to see Jon. He walked with us to the room, and can you believe at this point that I did not even remember to ask him my tube lengths until we were right outside the room! I asked and his face lit up and his eyes got all teary (I had already briefed him on how much was good, and what I was hoping for). I knew then that it had to be good. When he told me I had 8cm on the right and 9cm on the left, I broke down and cried and thanked God. Everyone around probably thought I was crazy, but they were all smiling, too.
We got in the room and I had to move myself to the hospital bed - ugh! That is always so difficult! I managed to get moved and by the time they had me all settled, the pain was coming back. Shortly thereafter I got another shot of Demerol, and dozed a little off and on. I had Jon call all of the family, and I know I talked to people, but most of it I don't remember. After a while, Jon went to the hotel to get my pillows that I had brought from home, and while he was gone I slept. The flower delivery lady scared the crap out of me when she brought me some flowers that work had sent me. Jon got back with the pillows, and some flowers for me, along with a stuffed monkey (until we can have a "monkey" of our own, he said) and a lighthouse sculpture (I collect lighthouses) for my computer. Most of the evening was spent in and out of dozing and watching TV. At 7pm, the nurse came to get me out of bed to do some walking. I was all for it, since I knew that should help the gas pains from getting bad. I still had the catheter, so one nurse carried it while the other one carried the IV, and we walked down to the nurse's station and back. I was willing to walk more, but they didn't want me to overdo it. They got me back in bed and asked if I was ready to get the catheter out and start getting up to pee. I said heck yes! They removed the catheter and the IV as well, so I was now on Tylox for the pain. Dr. Levin came in to check on me, and had a look at my BBT charts while he was there. He told me that he thought I had not been ovulating regularly. So, we are starting Clomid this next cycle to help make me ovulate. We were on the Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery floor of the hospital, and it was pretty empty, so they let Jon have the other bed in the room. He snored most of the night, so I got very little sleep. Also, the pain medicine was making me itch and I had to have Benadryl for that, which made me even sleepier. The next morning I got to get up and walk around some more, and then got to go back to the room at the Inn around noon. Dr. Levin encouraged me to walk a lot, so we went to the Louisville library so I could get on the computer and post to the group. We had taken the laptop with us, but the phone plug was not cooperating and kept disconnecting. I think we went to Wal Mart again, but I didn't last very long that time. I was starving, and at that point in time Chinese food sounded good for lunch, and then Mexican food for dinner. Oh boy! Big mistake! By the next day, I was doubled over in pain from gas!
Dr. Levin had called to check on me and told Jon to get some simethicone for the gas pains, so he did. Didn't help, so within a few hours he was calling the doctor back. Dr. Levin told me, "I know you don't want to hear this, but an enema would help. And double up on your pain medicine, too." I told him at this point, I don't care what I have to do, I just can't stand this pain. So, back to Wal Mart Jon went to get an enema, and I tell you what, I felt like a new person! I was able to eat some chicken soup and even slept great! I had to tell Dr. Levin the following day that he had every right to tell me, "I told you so!" That day, Thursday, we went for our final appointment with Dr. Levin. Venica removed my staples and put the steri-strips on the incision, and it wasn't too bad at all. |
