Band Bio     The Hat Trick began in July 2002. The original group consisted of Jon and Mike. They put a few songs together and began playing with Dan Reynolds on drums. They played for several months, learning many new songs to play. They then recruited Alan, one of their good friends, to play as a second guitarist. After a while, creative differences arose beween the drummer and the rest of the band and they went their separate ways. Jon, Alan, and Mike continued to play in The Hat Trick and Dan now plays in the local punk band Clear As Day.    The band needed a drummer, and they asked me (Matt Ream) to play with them and see how it would go. After a few practices with me to get so I was comfortable with the songs, we went to audition at the Smokehouse Restaurant in Apalachin. They liked our sound and asked us to play there with another band, Hard Nova (if you know their web addy please email it to me so i can link them) from Vestal. At the show we were essentially their "break" band but we performed well and had a great time. Hard Nova was also really kind in allowing us the use of their equipment, even though, through lack of communication on the part of the Smokehouse, they didn't know we were going to be there.     In the following weeks we recorded a demo and a full length cd with the assistance of Mike and Jon's uncle Mark Lepkowski. Taylor began practicing with us in January 2003 and has been a great addition to the band. Shortly after our first performance with Taylor, Alan decided to leave the group to join Crimson Falling (who have since become First Time Thief).     Over the past year or so we've been playing out quite a bit around the area.  Some of our most common spots are The Tioga Trails, The Smokehouse Restaurant, Cortland Youth Center, and The Nuetral Ground Cafe.  We've also played at The Strawberry Festival,  The Ice River Blues, and The Fall Festival along with many other events. We played a bunch of shows over the summer with a second guitarist, Ryan Blackwell who eventually had to leave the band (no hard feelings).
