The Heavy Horses
< ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->
Welcome.

‘The Heavy Horses’ burst from the stalls with their eponymous debut, a compilation of songs about love, life and the Great Southern Land.
Scratching the surface reveals that Nicholas Hurford is the impetus behind this eclectic and engaging collection of mid-fi studio confections.

After an amicable parting of the ways with ‘The Lovetones’ (Drop City, Pollyanna) and a break in performances with Tim Oxley (The dearhunters) and Jodi Phillis (The Clouds), Nick took time out to pen The Heavy Horses album.

Recorded predominantly in Nick’s home studio, The Heavy Horses is a musical excursion through many territories and is thread with an earnest and more-ish quality that begs ensuing play. Nick cites the:
“… halcyon days of classic australian fm radio fare…”
as one of the significant influences on the heavy horses long player.

his accomplishments as a performer (former bands with members of ‘the beautiful girls’ and ‘frenzal rhomb’),
guitar player
(he has featured on CD-ROMs for ‘Australian Guitar Magazine’ ) and producer (orchestrating innumerable tracks and remixing artists such as ‘Further’ and Triple J Unearthed winner ‘Aerial.Spans.Earth’ ) come fiercely together in The Heavy Horses.

The first single, with accompanying film clip, will be released in november 2003 followed by a second single and clip in the summer (to be announced).
solo shows are underway in preparation for an ensemble tour over summer 2003/2004.
