Metallica - St.Anger

This is my personal review for Metallica’s St.Anger!
For a few years Metallica hasn’t released anything NEW. Even Re-load was just songs left over from Load, And S&M was just their old songs covered with San Francisco Symphony orchestra, however there were two new songs written for that album. So you can imagine how long I have been waiting for a new kick ass Metallica album! FOREVER. I read everywhere this is going to be a blow out album, amazing, I had been reading this everywhere, so I was very pumped up. June 5th rolls around, Metallica had pushed up their date from June 10th to June 5th because they anticipated it would be good, and were also afraid of piracy. I couldn’t get the album until I got off work; so straight after work I jet down to HMV and pick it up. Since someone punked my CD player from my car, I couldn’t listen to it in the car. I get home and pop that baby in, the CD player decides not to work, so after tampering with it, finally it play’s that album. I hear frantic start, I’m awaiting the solo from Kirk, and the song ends, I wonder to myself, is Kirk still in the band, because I didn’t even hear him once, I skip to the next song, again, I don’t hear Kirk, maybe its because Lars’ drums are too loud? Or maybe James’ voice is too off key or too loud also? NO! I’ll tell you why, its because Kirks solo’s have been cut from the album, this was a decision made by the band. Why? Why did Kirk agree with this? It doesn’t sound like Metallica, plane and simple.

This album still has its up-points, Metallica still pumps out the tunes, But compared to albums like ...And Justice For All, Master Of Puppets, and Ride The Lightning, its lower on my scale. The older albums blow everything I’ve ever heard right out the door, YES I have 70 Metallica shirts, and I am a HUGE Metallica fan, but I know when a band has gone too far, I know when a band should pack it in, however I’m in full support of “Old School” Metallica!

Sorry to whoever I offended, most of you will be F’ing surprised that I even said this, because I’m such a huge Metallica fan, but when you hear Load, Re-Load, S&M and St.Anger and you compare them to And Justice For All, Ride the lightning Kill ‘Em all, and “Black Album” you’ll understand why I feel this way.

That’s all I got on this Album!
