The Honey Hush were formed in September 2002 in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Charles Lieurance, ex singer & songwriter for The Black Dahlias, returned
from Chicago after that band imploded & hooked up with Tery Daly who’s been
recording his own music for twenty years (as Starboy & Creatures of Habit).
The two conjured up a musical vision that satisfied Lieurance’s need for
deep, dank hoodoo and drunken country slop & Daly’s predilection for pure
pop music.
The Honey Hush’s music sounds like Southern Culture on the Skids
on a train through the hollows of West Virginia with a young Phil Spector as
the coal porter & X working the throttle. The twangy R&B of Charlie Rich &
Dan Penn gets goosed in the ass by the pop harmonies of Lieurance, Daly &
and the lovely Kristen Bailey (of the all girl garage queens, Mister Baby &
The Black Dahlias). Joining forces with these three are Eric Aspergren (The
Trendies & The Post Trendies) on bass and Sean Moon (Blue 88, Rockgodz, and,
most recently, bronco) beating on the drums.
The Honey Hush has already opened for Slobberbone, Rex Hobart& The Misery Boys, The Bangs and The Black Mollys, as well as headlining a show at the fine Chicago venue, Quenchers.
In the fall of 2002, The Honey Hush, along with 4 other Lincoln, NE bands formed a situation, a collective intent on raising the profile of the Lincoln music scene.
