Lifelike Wax Figures of Dracula, Frankenstein's Monster and
The Mummy Unveiled in Tribute to Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi
Los Angeles, CA -- In celebration of the 70th Anniversary of three of
Universal's most famous Classic Monsters, Universal Studios Home Video
(USHV) and Madame Tussaud's will unveil lifelike wax portraits of Dracula,
Frankenstein's Monster, and The Mummy to pay tribute to legendary horror
icons Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi.
Madame Tussaud's studio artisans have created remarkably realistic wax
figures of the legendary Universal Studios characters Dracula (portrayed by
Bela Lugosi), Frankenstein's Monster and The Mummy (portrayed by Boris
Karloff) for exhibition in its prestigious Madame Tussaud's New York. The
tribute coincides with USHV's salute to the studio's Golden Era of Horror
and celebration of several "monstrumental" anniversaries that have defined
Halloween entertainment for generations.
USHV's relationship with Madame Tussaud's marks the first time in Madame
Tussaud's 210-year history it has ever created wax figures of celebrities in
costume and character makeup. Portraits will remain on display at Universal
Studios Hollywood until Sunday, October 14th and then travel to Universal
Studios Orlando where they will be on displayed until Sunday, October 27th.
The wax portraits will be permanently installed at Madame Tussaud's New York
on Wednesday, October 31st.
