Profile: Bernie Keith. Bernie was born in London, but when he was 11, his family moved to the country. At the age of 12 he tracked his folks down and moved back in with them. He is an Aquarius, and grew up in Devon. His first job was an accountant, first car - a Mini Metro, and his first record ever bought was Lulu's 'I'm A Tiger'.
Amongst his favourite things, he enjoys eating Camembert Cheese, Salmon sandwiches, and enjoys hanging around Slapston Sands in Devon and the Bluebell Wood in Badby, Northants. Clothing wise, Bernie has a comfy cardigan that was first bought in 1979. It's still in excellent nick and totally wearable apparently.
He loves music, studies the piano and finally sussed out what it was three years later after first seeing one. His favourite song is Marvin Gaye's 'What's Going On'. Amongst his screen favourites are the film 'Broadway' and TV show 'The Golden Girls'. Leisure-wise he enjoys nothing more than lying on a beach in the sunshine.
He was once bought a 'My Little Pony Abbatoir Set', if he was trapped in a lift, would most like to be with a lift repairman, but least of all, Margaret Thatcher. He associates himself with Thelma from 'Scooby Doo' and his top tip is - 'Never keep your Preparation H next to the Superglue in the medicine cabinet'!
Bernie is another of the ex-Century 106 presenters who appealed to a more mature audience when Century was that way inclined. Again, Bernie occupied the Breakfast Show and Afternoon slots with his unique sense of humour.
It was his love of the countryside that later encouraged him to find his 'home' in Long Buckby, Northants, where he has firmly settled.
Simon Parry adds: 'He did work in the West Midlands, he did Breakfast on Mercia FM from 1989-1993 (during this time, he also had a Sunday afternoon show for a short time on Leicester Sound). Following Mercia, Bernie did some scriptwriting for BBC Radio 4, but returned to music radio doing breakfast at Valleys Radio in Wales, then he moved to Wave 105 in Southampton for an afternoon programme, before moving to Century 106.'
