Profile: Chris Ryder / Caesar The Geezer: This radio presenter with Greek origins, took his first steps in the radio business in 1973 as a technical operator, working on the Kenny Everett and Dave Cash show.  His own first reported appearance on the airwaves was illegally under his own name - Chris Ryder in the mid 1980s for Skyline Radio which illegally broadcast on 90.2 FM & 1413MW.  It was in 1990/1991 that Chris' first outing on the legal airwaves can be charted to Kent's Invicta Radio - however he lost his job at this station in 1991 over allegations of theft from a charity.  He was later found not guilty on this charge.  Having spent some time with Radio Mercury, his next move took him to Essex Radio in 1992 where he was known as 'Caesar The Bogeyman'..  Listen to a sound-bite of his first show at this address: www.petesipple.co.uk following the Essex Radio link and then following audio links.

A year later, and Chris found himself at London's Kiss 100 - airing late at night, the first two hours of his show was as a phone-in.  This section was constantly under threat from station management, with a likelihood of the first two hours becoming music driven like the third.  When national commercial radio came to fruition in the early 1990s, Chris, then known as Caesar The Geezer on-air, brought talkRadio onto the airwaves of the old Radio 1 frequencies - 1053 & 1089 AM.  In fact, despite the station officially coming to air on February 14th 1995, Caesar actually opened the phone lines during the night before whilst the station's test transmissions were still being aired.  Operating much to talkRadio's initial 'shock-jock' policy, he lived up to this title and then some.  He's best known for claims on air that he could heal listeners over the radio and once fooled listeners into thinking that he'd been kicked out onto Oxford Street by station management and that he was broadcasting from the pavement.  Scores of listeners turned up to see this for themselves only to find it was actually a carefully played hoax.  It is also reported that Caesar took over from Jeremy Beadle on the station's late show.  His stay lasted no longer than six months, having been on the receiving end of several warnings from station management.  Tommy Boyd was brought in to cover his slot until the arrival of James Whale.

Following his dismissal from talkRadio, he moved to Bristol to work on dance station Galaxy 101 from January to March 1996.  Caesar (real name Chris Ryder) joined 1548 Capital Gold on 1st April 1996 and presented 'Caesar's Empire of Fun' a mix of chat, wind-ups and music.  He presented the late show Monday to Friday 10:00pm-1:00am, Saturdays 6:30pm-8:00pm and Sundays 8:00pm-1:00am.

More recent radio stints have been on Millennium 106.8, now Time FM in London, as well as Fusion 107.3 (now Time 107.3) and Kent's Swale Sound.  His most recent appearance was for the latter, in February 2004, and it was originally anticipated that he would appear in the April of 2004 when the station launched through Kent's digital multiplex network.  This appearance is not documented as having ever happened.  He's also appeared as a presenter for a satellite adult TV channel over the past couple of years.

Caesar is a martial arts expert and computer whizz, a big fan of Star Trek, and other sci-fi movies - he credits Kenny Everett as being one of his favourite deejays and a heavy influence on his own broadcasting career.

Whereabouts: Following a period in Summer of 2005, when he worked as a promotions manager in a Harlow restaurant, more recently, he was scheduled to appear on Kent station SFM - a short-term restricted service licence radio station (with more permanent ambitions) which went to air for 28-days during August and September of 2006.  Up until recently, he also spent some time working as a DJ at the aptly named 'Caesar's' in Streatham.  Caesar is now the resident DJ and Marketing / Promotions Manager for Fat Sams Nightclub (formerly Jumpin' Jaks) - 32 Terminus Street, Harlow, Essex and yoou'll find him there on Friday and Saturday nights from 9:00pm until 3:00am.  Check out the club's developing website at www.fatsamsuk.com.  Caesar sends his regards and looks forward to seeing you!
