Profile: David Hamilton. David Hamilton is one of Britain's best known radio and TV presenters.  Since his broadcasting career began in 1959, David has hosted nearly 8000 radio shows and more than 1000 TV shows. David's career began as television script-writer for ATV, and at the age of 17 he scripted the TV series "Portrait of a Star".

Returning to Britain in 1960, David, aged 21,  became an in-vision television announcer with ABC TV in Manchester.  In 1967 he appeared with Ken Dodd, in the TV series "Doddies Music Box". David was host of "The Beat Show" in the early Sixties and compered shows with The Beatles and The Rolling Stones, and later hosted tours with David Cassidy and The Bay City Rollers. Throughout the sixties David hosted TV series for Tyne-Tees TV, Anglia TV, Westward and Southern TV.

In 1973 he was given his own David Hamilton Show on BBC Radio One, in a line-up that included Noel Edmonds, Tony Blackburn and Johnnie Walker.  During the Seventies David hosted Top of the Pops, Seaside Special, The Times Gala Awards, The World Disco Dance Championships and beauty contests.

In the 1980's, David was the presenter of the TV word game show, 'ALL CLUED UP', filmed by the now defunct TVS in Southampton.  Over recent years, the show returned to TV screens when all series of the show were aired several times on the satellite TV game show channel 'Challenge TV'.

David has also worked as a newscaster and show host on TV in New York and Los Angeles. David had his own daily radio show for the BBC for fourteen years, first with Radio One, then Radio Two, before moving to commercial radio in 1987.  Since then he has been heard on many stations around the UK, including Capital Gold, Classic Gold and Melody RADIO.

David is also on the board of the station which has recently won the Worthing local radio licence in East Sussex, 107.7 Splash-FM - and presents a Sunday show on the station which launched recently (2003).
