Profile: Emma B: Not to be confused with ex-Spice Girl Emma B(unton), here, we're talking about the woman whose full name is Emma Boughton, born in November 1970.  Her first radio memory was listening to Radio 1's Top 40 at the age of six, but her first big break in broadcasting came on BBC Radio Oxford when she appeared in a children's serial at the age of seven.  She went on to keep links in the music business, working for the Grapevine, Creation and Island record labels, and other radio work included a stint with Radio Caroline.

On television, Emma has presented BBC's 'Top Of The Pops - the new Chart' and ITV show 'The Base'.  She recalls with great joy the moment she interviewed rock icon David Bowie for NetAid at Wembley Stadium, but would rather not remember her worst on-air radio moment when she left a microphone open after handing over to a newsreader leaving the nation to hear her chatting through the headlines.

Off-air, Emma B lives in London with her partner, Radio 1 producer Damian Wilson, and her cocker spaniel, Stanley.  Having seen many celebrities carry out voice-over work, she would very much like to be a voice in an animated film.

Amongst her talents, Emma used to ski for the England Universities - she also is a dab-hand in the kitchen, especially making curries.

Whereabouts: Emma moved to Radio 1 in 1998 and currently co-presents their 'Sunday Surgery' 9:00-11:00pm with Dr. Mark Hamilton.  She also fronts social action campaigns on the station.
