Ben Morris asked: Could you tell me where Kevin Ford is? He was at Dream 100!
Profile: Kevin Ford: Born in a Yorkshire mining village where everyone left their front doors open, he left school with a couple of GCSEs, and a few spare woodwork tools. Anticipating a period of unemployment, he soon found himself working in the local sawmill. Aged just 16, and illegally operating some fierce machinery, he almost lost an arm in a conveyor belt. He's spent a considerable amount of time in East Anglia, and referred to the hardness of the local water supply and the regularity that he had to descale his kettle. He is now believed to regularly take a few chunks of limescale to crumble up in his tea when he travels up north to his native county just to keep accustomed!
Kevin likes zooming around the countryside on motorbikes - he has five of them - as well as a couple of cars. He was once turned down by the Police force, and he enjoys a good curry and a bit of bacon, sometimes at the same time, washed down with grapefruit juice and fizzy water. In June 2001 he took a trip in a YAK 52 aerobatic plane, flying in formation with Dream 100's Traffic-Spotting plane - latterly pulling away to fly upside down, through a loop, with Kevin at the controls and again through some more aerobatics. Whether the bacon, curry, grapefruit juice and fizzy water were churning up inside Kevin's stomach isn't known!
Up until mid-late 2003, Kevin was presenting the Weekday Breakfast Show at Dream 100 in Tendring, Essex from 6:00am-10:00am. He was also presenting the Sunday morning show from 8:00am-12:00noon. Mark Atherton replied: 'Hiya! Kevin Ford has gone to do a Breakfast gig on a Spanish Radio Station'. And just before Christmas 2003, Kevin Ford himself contacted the site: 'Hi there! Just been told about your website, brilliant idea! From the horses mouth then... I made a big leap into the unknown from Dream 100 to Sunshine FM based in Javea in the Costa Blanca presenting the breakfast show over here from 8 until midday - that's right people 8 o'clock!!! Luxury huh? Live streaming coming soon (as of December '03) www.sunshinefm.net' Kevin Ford. Thanks also to Phil Morris who e-mailed us at the same time as Kevin to give us the same details.
Whereabouts: On Christmas Eve 2004, Jenny Whittington contacted AIRCHECK stating: 'Kevin Ford disappeared one day from Sunshine FM (which changed it's name to Coast FM) in September 2004 without any explanation. What happened?' Mark Atherton at the same time as Jenny's e-mail, that he thought Kevin had now arrived at the Isle of Man station 3FM. We forwarded this info to Jenny who replied: 'Kevin did not get fed up out here, he enjoyed it, he and 2 other people disappeared from the station on the same day, so there must have been a bust up of some kind which was at the beginning of September 2004. The station was left without anyone on for most of the day for a couple of weeks, so it would be interesting to find out the truth. We were told he had gone to the Isle of Man, but we spoke to someone who knew him out here and she said he was hanging around for a month before going back to England'
As of late January 2005, we're still trying to verify if Kevin is indeed at 3FM. Whilst we make efforts to do so, please do let us know if you have any more information.
