I'm tired of using a point scale.
After all of these years I only recently noticed that I either liked
a particular cigar, hated it, or felt somewhat indifferent about it. Many of the cigars
that I've sampled over the past 10 years
are quite ordinary. Some are better; some are worse. Fewer
still were either great or awful. But that's about it. That's
how I felt about every one of them. So then I thought why get
any more technical than that?
Presenting The Humidor's new, unadulterated, cigar quality index!
I hope that you find it to be as simple and as practical as I do.

A damn good cigar. It's construction is
first-rate which usually contributes to an even burn and easy
draw. The flavors are rich and complex, smooth and well
balanced. This cigar is one of the best I've tried in
recent months. |

This cigar is pleasant and above average.
It has a decent burn and draw, and its flavors are at least
somewhat interesting to me. It may have a few minor
issues, but nothing to whine about. |

The average, boring cigar. Sometimes it
will burn unevenly or be slightly plugged, making the draw
difficult. Usually it will taste quite flat.
Sometimes it will just fail to
impress me. This does not mean the cigar is bad, just
ordinary. |

Those that disappoint, annoy, or piss me off.
Serious construction problems make these cigars losers.
Bitter, bland, or any other strange tastes may also be present
and contribute to the negative experience. |

Terrible. Horrid. Abysmal.
These cigars are described by any of the above. They
suffer from big construction flaws, wildly uneven burns,
bitter or nasty tastes, all of which compels me to demand my
money back. I usually toss these soon after I
light up. |
