Recognizing The Gods/ God

As stated on the earlier page, in the beginning there was one God. This God created lesser gods, which were mere parts of him, and thus imperfect. So how exactly do we go about recognizing and honoring these gods?

Well, here's a few ways...

Naming The Gods

Throughout time, there have been many different names for these pagan gods. Different cultures have applied different names to gods representing the same basic ideal. I, most often, use the Greek names. However, you may use whatever you want- perhaps even create names for them yourself. If you do, feel free to email me the list, and I'll post it up here!

Honoring The Gods

There are many ways to do this. Though you should recognize that all the gods exist, perhaps you just feel an affinaty for a certian diety. For instance, you may only like the perfect God, and pray to him. I will mainly look to Hecate (Goddess of crossroads, dark side of the moon, and magic), God, and Aphrodite (Goddess of love) for guidance and support. If needed, of course, you can look to the other gods.

Praying to the Gods

There are also many forms of prayer. The simplest way, of course, is to just say a quick prayer silently to a selected diety. Other options include writing a letter*, addressing it, and burning it in a candle, scattering the ashes into the wind, or writing poetry or some other form of writing. You should do whichever feels best to you, and whenever it feels best. Don't let others try to tell you how often to pray. Do what you feel is right.

Applying the Gods into Your Everyday Life

Sometimes people are just too busy for religion. Well, if that's the case, I have come up with a simple idea to still find time to pray to a specific diety. Basically, it could work two ways.

One: In The Morning

When you are getting ready for the day, say taking a shower or something, pick a god that you need to guide you through the day. For instance, if you have a big soccer tournament that day, you could pray to either Herkales for strength, or Nike for victory. Perhaps you could say a quick prayer asking them to guide you, and then go on with your life.

Two: In The Evening

Before you are about to fall asleep, thank a diety that helped you through the day, and perhaps do as stated above if you know something big will be happening the next day where you will need a specific diety's guidance. Say a quick thank you and prayer, and boom! Morpheus will bring you dreams.
