Morals, What
They Are And Where They Come From
Morals
are a huge, huge part of life. Without morals and knowing right
from wrong, life would be chaos and anarchy. However, how did
we exactly *get* these morals?
The Concept
of Morals
The concept
of morals, but not the actual morals, is innate. Morals can be
said to be a "gift", if you will, from the perfect God,
allowing us to use his judgement and such. However, our actual
morals are relative...
Finding
Your Morals
To find one's
morals, they must learn from a combination of experience, reason,
and society. This is because not everyone has the same lifestyles,
grew up the same way, and is taught the same things.
Society
And Morals
To properly
work, the society must have it's own set of morals. Though Nietzsche
and Sarte threw this "group mentality" out the window,
I believe you need a certian amout of the group in order to find
what is right and wrong. But to truly find your own morals, you
must look to yourself.
Experience
and Morals
Seeing as
everyone has a different purpose, as well as a different personality,
everyone has different experiences. These experiences can help
teach right and wrong. For instance, what one person has known
forever to be right may be wrong to another person. There is no
one true set of morals.
Morals
and Changing Times*
As time goes
by, societies change and fade, and people live and die. The different
generations are distinct because of their own moral beliefs. For
instance, what was "right" back in the 1800s may most
likely be "wrong" today, or vice versa. Morals always
will change as society changes.
God and
Morals
God did give
us the ability to have morals. He also will guide us to the right
path- you must just trust in him to do this.* He and the other
gods/goddesses are the only ones who truly know what is right
for you, and it is one of their purposes to help you find that
right.
Morals
of Other People
Though you
must listen to what others say of their morals, never, never,
NEVER let them force their ideas on you. If you do believe what
they believe, or find it practical and appealing to you, that's
great! But, just remember to think for yourself. When has it ever
been practical to memorize someone else's beliefs, when you have
none of your own?
