Real Name: Audrey Faith Perry Hill McGraw Birthdate: 9-21-67 Birthplace: Jackson, MS |
Faith was adopted by parents Ted & Edna Perry. Having only attended junior college for 2 months Faith decided she was ready to pursue a career in country music. So at age 19 she up & moved to Tennessee to pursue that dream. Faith's first Nashville job was as a t-shirt vendor at the Country Music Fan Fair. Next she was a receptionist at Gary Morris' Publishing Company which would ultimately lead her to stardom (this is when she met & married her first husband Daniel Hill, a co-worker at the publishing company). Heard singing secretly one day, Faith was persuaded by a writer to make a demo. When Gary Morris himself heard Faith's voice he encouraged her to pursue her singing career. With a switch in day jobs & prepared to take on the music business, Faith met songwriter Gary Burr. She began singing backup for him which gave her experience & assistance in refining her harmony & writing skills. It was at one of Gary Burr's shows that an agent from Warner Brothers heard Faith sing. Signed with Warner Brothers Records in 1993, Faith 1st album Take Me As I Am sold 2 million copies & generated such #1 hits as "Wild One" (her debut country single) & "Piece Of My Heart" (her version of 60's music goddess Janis Joplin's hit). Two years later she released her 2nd album It Matters To Me whose production was belated on account of a surgical procedure on her vocal chords. The album went triple platinum & the album-titled song "It Matters To Me" stayed at #1 for 3 weeks. Faith's 3rd album, the self-titled Faith sold even more copies than her prior two album releases, selling more than 4 million copies. Her recent album Breathe has already sold 4 million copies; while her single "This Kiss" remained at #1 for many weeks & received simultaneous airplay on country music stations, pop stations, & adult contemporary stations the world over. The singles "The Way You Love Me" & "Breathe" have been at #1 for 6 weeks. Faith performed at the closing ceremonies of the 1996 Summer Olympics & at Super Bowl XXXIV. Both of which she will coyly admit have been lifelong dreams of hers. She is the current spokesmodel for CoverGirl makeup, she appears in Pepsi commercials, & is the new spokesperson for All-Tel Wireless Services. She has been voted one of People Magazine's 50 Most Beautiful People in the World 2000 & People Magazine's Best Dressed People 2001. Creator of the Faith Hill Family Literacy Project, the multi-platinum recording artist is married to country star Tim McGraw--the "love of her life." Together they have 2 daughters, Gracie & Maggie. That's about it. Got any more Faith facts? |
