BEAUTY IS ON THE INSIDE


I have always said that the soul is where it's at
Looks are aritficial and that is just a fact
We cover our faces with make-up and try to hide our looks
Why do we do this?  Are we just a cover for a book?
Our true self is in our soul, we just need to reach out
At times I think our heart wants to scream and shout
Some use blush and eyeliner, and also wax their eyebrows, too
GOD, that's got to hurt!  I can feel it.  Can you?
There are so many shades of lipstick, I don't know where to start
But just know it all comes from the inside of our heart
Our bodies can be altered to make us look better
But the bottom line is, we are as beautiful as a love letter
We can have a tummy tuck here and a face lift there
But is it worth the long term pain that we will bear
People must accept you for who you are, and not what you can be
I always say to my friends, I am no one special...I am just me
Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder, how true the saying goes
Because if your friends are true, they will accept you because they know
The next time you look into the mirror, just remember it never lied
Along with your outer beauty, remember most...
