THE DISTANT TOUCH


Through the monitor, one day we met
An interesting tool, is this internet
We seem to let down our guard and drop that shield
Some like to chat, play games or just play the field
We may find that special person that enters our heart
But then we go to the beginning, right to the start
The first words we say may be hello or perhaps g'day
It was that kindness we share that took you away
It was that smile that I put on your face
Or perhaps that void,  I filled in that space
Then came the friendship that we built online
With the happiness following, all of the time
We live in separate countries or states, not to worry
Because each e-mail we send arrives in a hurry
We write back and forth and our bond grows near
To the point we get so close, we may shed a tear
The tears of happiness that bring us together
We may go through rough times but those we will weather
Our hearts will keep us together, because we care so much
Because no matter who or what we will always have that...
