EXISTENCE

I wake up each day and wonder, "Why am I here?"
As I get out of my bed, I have no fear
I go forward and leave my room
Exiting my house, I see the rising moon
The stars glisten in the still of the night
As the animals seek shelter from fright
The bats hover in search of their food
The tranquility of the night creates the mood
The reeds in the marsh become very still
All of a sudden I feel the haunting chill
The wolf starts to howl in search of his mate
As I continue to walk with an anticipating gait
I stop ahead and search for a reason
Why do the leaves change colour with the season?
Finally I stop suddenly in my tracks and glance
And ponder the thought, "Is there a reason for my...
EXISTENCE?"
