EYES OF THE INNOCENT
I gently look out at the shimmering light As I do this, I wonder what the world is thinking As my paws creep along the dampness of the cave floor It is then that I realize that the world is ahead of me Now I ask myself, "Why do people fear me?" In my heart I believe it is the mystery of my past, the legends and the myths Are the legends true? Are the myths true? Only we know the truth behind our past People believe we are the hunters But in fact, we feel we are the hunted We travel in packs so we can survive But everyone seems to watch our every move You trap us for furs and sell us for parts Please leave us alone We do not want to be in a zoo or a trophy on a wall We keep our pups close to our side They are our future as cubs are to a pride As I climb the ridge I am now approaching, I ask you "Please, leave us alone" The next time you hear that howl in the moonlight It is just MY way of saying to the world "We are the innocent eyes of the world"
