SPREAD YOUR WINGS


I was put on this earth for a special reason
As time changes, so does the season
With my many legs, I explore the world before me
Inch by inch as time goes by, I make it to the top
Slowly eating the leaves for nourishment until I must stop
My body tells me now I must seek shelter
With the change of  temperature, my body may swelter
I gently become weak as the cocoon starts to form
My body is now encased and becomes very warm
Over the next little while, my body will change
If I looked in the mirror, I would look very strange
My cocoon breaks open and I am now free
The colours I have now are amazing to see
I will have a new life from this day on
This will be a new beginning from dusk to dawn
I am a butterfly with colours you see
Just spread your wings and you will be free
