Lt. Harriet Sims
We first see Harriet in the second season ep, Crossing the Line. She replaced Bud on the Seahawk
as Public Affairs officer. In the episode Washington Holiday, she and Bud go on their first date. In the third season, she was transferred to JAG HQ.
She and Bud began a serious (and often humorous) relationship. Bud proposed to her near the end of the third season (Tiger, Tiger).
Harriet, sweet and slightly naive, comes from a very rich (Yesterday's Heroes), Southern family. This caused a rift between her and Bud for a while because he was angry she did not tell him how wealthy her family was. Her mother, a pretty difficult woman, did not approve of Bud. This was resolved in time for them to get married in the next to last episode of the season (Wedding Bell Blues).
Since married couples can not work together, Harriet was transferred to the Inspector General's office, but Admiral Chegwidden arranged for her to still work out of JAG HQ.
In the fourth season, Harriet finds out that she is pregnant (Embassy ). After moving a something heavy, she feels pain and fears that she might loose the baby (The Martin Baker Fan Club). Despite this scare, everything is now doing well and she and Bud are awaiting the birth of their first child, a boy, (War Stories) later this season. The baby boy, AJ, was delivered by Admiral Chegwidden in the episode "Yeah, Baby".
Harriet is also promoted to Lt. (jg) in the fourth season.
At the beginning of the fifth season we find out that Harriet has gone off of active duty and on to Reserve Duty so that she can spend more time with baby AJ (King of the Greenie Board). She shows up in the episodes "Rogue", "The Colonel's Wife" and helps Mac "store" evidence in the episode "Contemptuous Words".
We also learn in "Ghosts of Christmas Past" that she bears an uncanny resemblance to Phyllis Diller (This is because Karri Turner played both roles).
Harriet also appeared in the fifth season episodes “Life or Death,” “Boomerang (Part 1)” and “The People v. Gunny”.
Harriet sees Renee’s soft side shows when Renee arranges for a pregnant Harriet to wear a dress Madonna wore in a video to the Surface Warfare Ball (Surface Warfare).
Bud and Harriet find out that they are expecting a second child in season five also (Promsies).
In season six, it is revealed that Bud and Harriet are having a girl (Legacy Part 1) and they ask Mac if it is okay if they name their girl Sarah (JAG TV).
Harriet goes into labor on November 14, but tragedy touches the Roberts when their baby dies after a botched delivery (The Princess and the Petty Officer). Bud is determined to know why their daughter died (A Separate Peace Part 2) and decides to sue Harriet’s doctor after he finds what he believes is evidence of negligence. While their doctor may not have done everything correctly, there is not enough evidence to show that he neglected his duty, so he is found not guilty (Family Secrets). It is also revealed that Harriet was pregnant once before, when she was younger, but she has a miscarriage(Family Secrets).
In the sixth season, Harriet also returns to active duty (Touch and Go).
