| JC - Josh to his family and friends - was born in the Washington, D.C. area. He is the oldest of three children. He grew up with a natural love for music, but never sang in public. He instead interpretted music through dancing. That was, until a friend dared him $20 to sing at a talent show when JC was just 13 years old. He got up and sang "Right Here Waiting for You" by Richard Marx and walked away with first prize in the talent show. Later, he learned that Disney was conducting a search for new mouseketeers for "The New Mickey Mouse Club." A friend was auditioning, so Josh went along to watch the process. He caught the eye of the casting director and was asked to audition. He was basically cast on the spot, but still had to go through the bearaucratic red-tape of showing up for the final casting call. The night he got the call saying he had made the show, Josh admits to having run down the snow-covered street in a t-shirt and his underwear to wake up a friend and share the exciting news. Since the show already had a cast member named "Josh," young Mr. Chasez was christened JC. Other members of the now famous cast included Keri Russell (Felicity), Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, Tony Lucca, Jason Carson, Nikki DeLoach (Innosense) and future-*NSYNC-mate Justin Timberlake. |
