Vas In Jux Umpani chanted as a dummy ripped apart.”Hmm”,he said,”must be getting rusty, the dummy should be sliced in 2 parts.””Oh well,maybe it’s just because I’m hungry, it’s time to eat anyway”. In Mani YlemHe chanted,and plates loaded with food apeared infront of him. After he finished eating, he felt extremely tired. He fell asleep reluctantly, for after a wizard casts a high level spell, it takes all of his concentration away for a few minutes.
When he awoke, he looked out of his tower window and saw someone coming his way. ”Uh oh”, he said. ”If it’s one of Lord Darkness’s servants, then I’m done for, unless.....”An Lor Xen He chanted, he and his tower became invisible. He decided to surprise the traveler.Vas Flam. He chanted. The warrior deflected the fireball from his sword. If he wanted to harm Umpani, there wasn’t much he could do. His spell made him and his tower visible again.
”What the...” the warrior said in surprise. ”Who’s there?" the fighter asked.
”I am Umpani the magician," said Umpani as he stepped out of the tower. ”If you do me no harm, then I will do you no harm." It was a threat he couldn’t carry out, but it might trick the warrior into leaving him alone. ”Who are you?" Umpani asked.
”I am Wodare the king’s best fighter," Wodare said.
”If your the king’s best fighter, why aren’t you training guards?" asked Umpani.
”I am on a quest to find the gems of Talore to destroy Lord Darkness," said Wodare.
”I’d better come”, said Umpani, ”You might need some magic.”
”All right," Wodare said. ”Go pack. We leave very soon."
Umpani packed his spellbook, some reagents for potions, some explode potions, and finally, Umpani packed his prized possesion-a gem wich he had gotten as a reward for defeating The Giant of Dragon Mountain.
After Umpani had packed, they continued their quest. They hadn’t gone far when a purple luquid droped from a tree. The wizard recognized it as an explode potion’s contents. ”RUN!" the wizard screamed. They had 5 seconds before the potion exploded. They ran. Behind them they heard the *KA-KABOOOOMMMMM* of the explosion. They ran back and heard something rustling in the bushes, not wanting to have another potion thrown at them, the wizard cast a spell. Vas Wis Quas An Mani He chanted and the bushes dissapeared revealing a young man dressed in Deer skins.
”Who are you?" asked Umpani.
”I am Deric the rogue," the man said.
”I am Umpani, and this is my friend Wodare," said Umpani. ”We are on a quest to find the gem of Talore."
”Can I come?" asked Deric.
”We’ll need all the help we can get," said Wodare.
“What’s your profesion?" asked Umpani.
”I’m an alchemist/rogue," said Deric, ”but alchemy is my fighting profesion."
”How can you fight with alchemy?" asked Umpani.
”You DID see what my explosion potion did, right??” Derric said.
”Maybe alchemy is a good skill," said Umpani.
”Look," said Wodare. "Red eyes, get ready to attack!" All of a sudden, it jumped out at them. ”A Rust Elemental!" shouted Wodare in surprise. ”They can rust any weapon that touches them, and don’t get affected by spells."
”Yeah right!" said Umpani. ”Let's see it deflect this!!” Vas In Jux. Blades appear in the air, each making a cut deep into the elemental. When they wear out, the spell finishes, and the rust elemental is still charging.
”Pour this on your sword Wodare," said Deric, for he had a plan. Wodare got the potion and put it on his sword. As soon as it was on, it was coated with a blue light. The rust elemental had already attacked. It charged toward Wodare. Wodare struck it and split it in half. It disappeared.
”My sword should have rusted, why didn’t it rust?" he asked.
”When it hit your sword, it hit the blue light so the sword didn’t rust."
”Very clever Deric”, said Umpani. ”Let’s go before Lord Darkness sends more."
They travelled hastily, and in a few hours were at the edge of Lord Darkness’s land. It was a twisted place, the trees were rotted, and the brooks were long since turned to swamps. They stepped in. Before they could so much as move, elementals were popping out like daisys. ”They must have heard us coming!" said Wodare.
But elementals weren’t attacking, they were being twisted together by some strange force and chanting-Leaf Fire Water Earth bring us our master rise up from the hearth! The twisting stopped and one elemental stepped out. It was a mixture of all the elementals. It sent chills down Wodare’s and Deric’s spine. They all of a sudden felt frozen by the elemental's stare.
”I am the Death Elemental," it said. ”I am here to destroy the intruders on Lord Darkness’s teritory!" In Vas Neeko Grav. It chanted. A ball of black fire appeared in his hand.
In Vas Unneeko Grav.Umpani chanted. A ball of white fire appeared in his hand. The spells met in midair. There was a big explosion. A place that was filled with dead trees became a cleareing because the impact blasted the trees away. When the smoke cleared, Umpani’s fireball was speeding towards the death elemental.
Rel Por. The death elemental chanted. He appeared on the other side of the clearing just as the fireball went speeding away into the forest. They all heard the *Ka-Boom* when it hit something.
”Not so fast," said Umpani. He had regained his concentration, but the elemental had not. Umpani threw an explode potion at the death elemental and right after it regained its concentration (10 seconds later), it exploded. Umpani bought potions only from the most powerful alchemists, so his potions would do twice as much damage as most other potions. The death elemental was different from any other creature they had fought. It broke down into the smaller elementals and they dissapeared one by one.
”Lord Darkness will need a new gate keeper," said Umpani with a chuckle.
”We’re sorry we couldn’t help out Umpani, but it seemed to paralyze us," said Wodare and Deric.
”It does that to anyone but magicians," said Umpani.
That night, they slept in one of the rotted trees not burnt away by the battle. It was cramped and they didn’t sleep well that night. They were thankful when morning came, they fell out of the tree and continued their journey. If they wanted to get to Lord Darkness’s keep they would have to hurry. They hadn’t gone far when they came to a 3 way fork in the road.
”We’ll each go one way, they seem to go together eventually,” said Wodare.
”I will take the middle passage, Umpani, you take the right hand passage, and Deric, you take the left hand passage,” said Wodare. Wodare hadn’t gone far when he came to a clearing with a single tree in it. It was different from the othebagrs, it was not rotten, it was exactly the opposite. Wodare stepped into the clearing, ”a tree can’t hurt me," he thought.
But as he stepped into the tree’s presence, its look changed. It became a horrible looking tree with 2 wide brown eyes, and a twisted mouth made of wood. ”This tree is blocking my path, I shall have to kill it," said Wodare. Thick vines sprouted around him, they had pointed ends like razors. ”I recognize this monster now," said Wodare. ”It’s a reaper. Even if I do get near enough to hack a it, it will use it’s branches, pick me up, and then eat me, but I have a plan," he said to himself.
The vines were filling up the clearing now. Wodare’s plan was going into action. He hid behind one of the vines and snuck toward the back of the reaper. The reaper couldn’t see him beacuse of all the vines, so far his plan was working. The reaper was looking a bit confused, Wodare was going to sneak behind the reaper beacuse all reapers have a weak spot in their backs. When he got to its back he shoved his sword in up to the hilt. The tree didn’t even have time to scream. It fell forward.
”I’d best get going, I don’t want to be left behind," said Wodare. He reached the place where the roads came together, Deric and Umpani were already there.
”We were about to leave you," Umpani said. ”What happened?" Wodare told them about the reaper.
”Wow," Deric said. ”If you didn’t know about reapers, you’d be speared on the end of a vine, or a tasty snack."
"I’m alive though, so let’s go," said Wodare. ”We’re nearly at Lord Darkness’s keep." They broke into a run. They didn’t notice that 2 tall trees started to move, but when did when 2 hands grabbed Umpani and Wodare, they were helpless. Deric hid. Rogues were trained at hiding. he had an idea. He came out of the bushes with a potion ready.
”HEY FAT FACE!!” he yelled as he threw the potion. It found its mark, the giant’s mouth.
”Who there?” the giant asked. ”Intrud...” He didn’t get to finish his sentence before he fell asleep.
”My sleeping potions realy do work!” Deric said. He revived Wodare and Umpani before the giant woke. As they passed the giant, Deric did what rogues do best-steal. He searched the giant and found a strangedly colored stone on it. He took it, It began to glow. He was teleported to the center of Lord Darkness’s keep. Umpani was fighting Lord Darkness there. Deric guessed that Wodare was still outside. he saw a bright crystal floating in the center of the room, and his stone was soon added. It said started to talk!
"Cast only in the name of GOOD, you have been tested and I now know you are worthy of your gems," it shouted. Umpani’s spell book dissapeared and in it’s place was a golden spell book.
Deric’s explode potion that he was about to throw turned into a silver potion. ”The Potion Of Talic!!!" Deric said. ”This is the only one ever made!"
"The Book of Allora, I had thought this was lost in a fire." Umpani said in surprise.
Wodare all of a sudden burst through the door and struck Lord Darkness. It momentarily distracted him long enough for Umpani to cast a spell ”Time for the spell of Allora," Umpani said. Allora Vasort In Por! Umpani shouted. A gold wire wraped around lord Darkness and began to glow. ”HURRY!" Umpani shouted. Vas Rel Por. He chanted and a white facet gate appeared. Deric, Umpani, and Wodare stepped through. A few seconds later,they heard a **KA-KA-KABOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMM** as a huge explosion wiped out all of Lord Darkness’s teritory. It was nothing now but charred wasteland.
”Hmm," said Deric. ”Umpani and I will clean up, with the Talic potion, it will be easy."
”With the book of Allora, I can help," said Umpani.
”I will protect the king’s palace,for I have the Sword of Giant’s Cave, but I wish I could help- training knights gets boring after a year or so," said Wodare. Word spread that Lord Darkness was gone, and that the land was free again. Wodare, Umpani, and Deric became known as the 3 heros.
20 Years later:
Umpani and Deric had turned the wasteland into a beautiful forest. It contained unicorns and elves. The unicorns and elves have a strong bond, so they didn’t harm each other. Umpani and Deric built a cabin at the edge of the forest and lived there. Wodare would visit them, as he passed people, they would goggle at him. Then he would tell the tale of how they defeated Lord Darkness.
