Dec.3,2005.> Well, a whole year has almost flown by, and there hasn't been much to report. We just wanted to clear up some confusion. There were some rumours floating around about The Kickaz getting back together for a reunion tour of sorts, but we assure you that those were simply conjured ideas, rooted in wishful thinking, started by some die-hard fans that are finding it difficult to let go of the past. This would be welcome news to fans world-wide no doubt, if it were in fact true, but it is not. Have a happy Christmas season and New Year, and keep the kick alive.

There you have it. The heart of The Kickaz' drummer. Have a kickin' day, that's it for now.

Sep.30,2004.> Good news! Last night Keith finished the artwork for "Songs to Live By", and will send everything off soon and then hopefully we'll have the final product soon. The Management Team is excited to say the least. The guys haven't settled on a release date, but rest assured it will be very, very soon. The final track listing/order will be up soon, so stay tuned. Until then keep it real, and of course kickin'!

Sep.16,2004.> Well, it sure has been a good solid while since there was an update, but we have some new Kickaz news, so buckle up and get ready. well as presumed, Keith did head into Tech Centre Studios in Caronport, Saskatchewan to master 4 new songs for "Songs to Live By". He actually just finished last night and decided to release the names of the four new songs to you the fans:
Misplaced Inhibitions, The Pale Frontier, Crossing Police Lines, The Incoherent Fallacy are the titles of the new songs. This is what Keith had to say about the new songs: "Well as you know we tracked these songs with Simon Samuel. We recorded these songs on a very limited budget and because of that the quality of production is lower than on our previous efforts. This is one of the things that excites me as it brings to these songs the aura of our early material. However, these songs see us taking a massive leap forward in our songwriting as a band. These four songs are much more focussed than any previous work of ours, and we drew from a wider variety of musical influences, while still maintaining the early energy of songs like 'Where'd ya Go?'." Awesome to say the least. The band will finalize the track listing for the album, as well as the artwork and layout. Keith said they have big plans for this release, so stay tuned for news as it comes. Until then, Kick it!

Jul.8,2004.> Good day all. Some updating for your reading pleasure. Keith is back doing his seasonal forestry work. He has the month of July off, and will travel to a number of places to enjoy God's creation and good friends' company. He will tentatively head into Tech Centre studios in Saskatchewan to master the "best of" release which the fellas have confirmed will be titled "Songs to Live By". The band expects it will be released early in the new year.
Ben is currently in the Bay doing some work at his local church. He will be returning to school in the fall to complete his degree. He has been keeping a low profile with regards to the band and said he is rather enjoying his simpler life.
Brian, that foxy engineer of the lowend, is still on the west coast doing what he does best: keeping it real and staying secluded from the masses of ladies, because he's a one lady's man. That's right, Brian is taken. I know that is heart-breaking news, but the inevitable is precisely that. Sorry ladies, better luck with the next big thing that comes along.
Anyway, that's what the artists formerly known as The Kickaz are doing currently, and until next time, keep it on the kick!

Apr.25,2004.> Well, it has been a solid 4 months since the updating of the Kickaz web home, and quite frankly there hasn't been much news to tell. The process of mastering and artwork/layout has been put on hold indefinitely, until the band members can place their full attention on the "best of" release. All three guys have been faced with more pressing issues as of late, and the full stories will be posted for you all shortly. The band knows full well the anticipation surrounding this "best of" release, and not to worry, all will be unfurled in due time. For now keep Kickin' it, and we'll see ya'll around.

Jan.14,2004.> Hey there, and happy new year from the Kickaz. Hope y'all are doing great and kickin it like you should. The site has some new pics, so check them out when you get the chance. There will be more to come soon as well. Well, the Kickaz keep changing their minds, and that for the better. Originally, the band had planned to unleash live versions of never before released songs, recorded on the b-side tour. A few days after that decision was released to the public, the boys had a killer idea and changed the plan. The guys were able to get an open slot with Simon Samuel at The Balcony, and in the course of one day, recorded demo-quality studio versions of the four chosen songs. Ben said this about it: "Well, we figured that the songs could be improved if done in a studio with a controlled environment, and we felt that this was the least we could do for the fans. Who doesn't want some new studio recordings of their favourite band right?" Indeed, indeed. The song list is being finalized for the best-of project, and will be made public in due time, as Keith aptly put it. The boys are apparently taking this process slowly as they "want the final remnant of this band to be the ultimate it can be" as so elegantly stated by Ben. The band is working on ideas for layout and artwork, and will be looking to get the songs mastered in the next few months. As we know more, you will know, fo sho. Aiight. Keep it on the reel.

Dec.28,2003.> Well, Christmas has come and gone, and we hope you all had a superlative holiday. But, the Kickaz have a late gift for all you anxious fans. The big news is about to be revealed, can you handle it? As you found out in the last update, the Kickaz have something big for you boys and girls, and well, let's just cut to the chase. "As is widely known, we didn't support our final album with a "New Prose" tour, but opted to do a b-side tour, just before we called it quits with the band. Well, we recorded a number of those shows and accumulated quite the selection of unreleased Kickaz material. The management team and the band got together over the last few months to decided what should be done with these songs. As a whole we decided it would be best to release some sort of "best of" project with some unreleased live tracks. This fit perfectly with our desire to present our die-hard fans with something of meaning in light of the nature of our career as well as a token of appreciation for their unrivaled support." You read it right, straight from Brian himself. The Kickaz have big plans for their combined "best of" and live b-side album, to be released sometime in the new year. Stay tuned for further details on this as I'm sure you all will. Kick-it.

Dec.12,2003.> Here's something for your tastebuds' tantalizing! Who'd a thought there'd be more news, and besides that, any news worth announcing? The world of The Kickaz is an ever changing, crazy place, and this segment of news comes directly from Keith: "Well, it has been a little over 7 months since we decided as a group to quit Kickin' it, and a bit less than that since we announced it to you the people. We understand that for many of you, this was a devastating announcement, one that was incomprehensible, and seems to have no shread of common sense. I can assure you that it was well thought over, and that we are enjoying our lives very much right now without The Kickaz' activity. But, because of the disappointment it caused around the globe to our devoted fans (for which we are still incredibly thankful), we have decided to put together a little something for you. We will be announcing this within the next few weeks, and lets just say, it will be worth the wait." So there you have it folks, straight from Keith. There are rumours going around as to what this news will be, but we'll just have to wait and see. Keep it kickin' ya'll.

Nov.1,2003.> We know many of you are wondering what's currently going on in the lives of the members of the band formerly known as The Kickaz, so we the Kickaz Management Team have decided to bring all of you up to speed. We informed you of what each member was doing back in June, but things have changed in their lives since then, so here's the lowdown:

Brian has returned to Canada from Hawaii, and is back instructing again. This time though he's working on the west coast at the West Coast School of Modern Music. He's teaching Banjo, of course, but has managed to become the faculty's head of the Bluegrass Department. He is also the head of recruiting of new staff for the entire school, which has filled up his schedule quite nicely. He isn't currently instructing bowling, but has joined an elite league there, and compete's in monthly competitions, already winning 2 of the 4 he has competed in.

'Ergonomically Inclined' has finished it's summer/fall tour "What Is That?" and Ben thoroughly enjoyed himself. We were able to ask him about his last planned tour with the troupe, and this is what he had to say: "Wow, what can I say? 'What Is That?' was definitely a tour where I saw the full potential of each member reached. All the guys and gals put everything they had into each performance. This is a memory that will happily stay with me for the rest of my life. The crowds' responses reminded me of The Kickaz' tour of 2000 to Europe, Australia, and Asia -- just incredible! I think the troupe is ready to take on any obstacle, and I'm glad to be leaving at such a high point in the troupe's career. The team has already chosen a replacement member, and he was fortunate enough to be able to come along and even participate in portions of this tour. I'm confident he will only exceed all expectations that anyone might have of him. Definitely a great way to go out." After the tour Ben was able to get to Venice and spend time with friends, as well as take care of some pressing business issues involving his gallery. He was there until mid-October, and has recently returned to Canada. He is now taking some courses through correspondence as he decides what to do next.

Keith's forestry work, being seasonal, is on hold until the spring time, and he is currently brushing up his skills as a recording engineer. He has moved west and is living where he can be free of distractions, or as he put it: "I've decided to learn the ins and outs of audio production and since there's a lot of baggage involving the Kickaz back at home, I've decided to move to a more remote location to do that. I'm working with some top guns in the industry and am learning a lot about the way things really work in the music industry. Hopefully I'll be able to apply the skills I'm learning out here to a future musical endeavor, but who knows what the future holds." He is also in the process of writing for a new solo project, but he says he has no serious plans for it at this time. Well hopefully he will have serious plans, but we'll keep you informed if we hear any further news on the subject.

So there you have it folks. The skinny on the Kickaz as they now exist. Keep it real wherever you might be, and keep the Kickaz alive. Outs.

Jun.6,2003.> Well, the history altering news has arrived. Today is the day. Please take a seat and calm down. The three gentlemen known publicly as The Kickaz have decided to officially call full-time music quits. That's right, the Kickaz have "broken up". Ben had this to say about one of the most unfortunate events in rock and roll history:
"With the emergence and rise in popularity of manufactured pop music, websites such as Napster and Kazaa, and the deterioration of the minds of today's youth, we realized that being a unique group of musicians with goals and a bent for creativity, could no longer compete on the worldwide market for the hard-earned money of today's music buyers. Our latest album "The New Prose" did not sell as was expected by our management team and thus sealed the decision. We know as music fans ourselves that this may be very devastating for the fans, and feel your pain, but as always the sun sets and rises, and we know that the rising of the sun will bring something more fulfilling than the Kickaz. We thank you the fans and everyone who supported us these last few years, and maybe we'll see some of you around in the future."
The band will occasionally appear for various reunion shows as their personal schedules permit, but will never again release a studio album or tour. There are plans for a possible video documentary. Stay tuned.
Brian has disappeared, apparently to Hawaii to "get away" from life for a while. Keith has landed a lucrative forestry job, and has taken that proposition on full-time. Ben will tour with 'Ergonomically Inclined' (the mime troupe) once more before travelling to Venice to visit his gallery and see the sites. The Kickaz will live on forever in our minds and CD players. It's been a fun ride, thank you.

You will still be able to buy cd's til they're gone, and the site will remain up for the sake of history.

Apr.13,2003.> Hello, all you kickin' kidz. The band is back from the b-side tour. They decided to cut it quite a bit shorter than originally planned due to the nature of the tour. It went very well, and Keith had this to say about it: "The tour was very fun. We took some days to see the sites. The small crowds that were there to witness the performances were totally into the unreleased songs and I would dare to say they 'ate it up'. Lithuania was fun as always, I would like to say thank you to the fans there for the on-going support. Overall, though, the 15 countries in Europe, North America, Africa and Asia, were very supportive of the vision for the tour and we can't wait to get out on the road again. Thanks to all." Also "The New Prose" is still for sale for $5. Get yours now on the merch page.

The band will be releasing some news to the public very shortly that will alter history forever. Stay tuned.

****

Mar.16,2003.> Well, "The New Prose" has been out for almost two weeks, and Ben had some insight to share these past couple of days: "The sales of the new record have been slightly slower than we had collectively hoped, but we being fans of particular artists ourselves, know what it's like when a favourite group releases an initially disappointing record. The new tunes are more introspective and experimental musically, and will take more time to, shall we say grow, on the fans. As a band we feel this album is stronger than "Break the Mould", and we only see a bright future for "The New Prose". Words of wisdom from Ben. We can only wait and see what happens with this album. Speaking of "The New Prose", you can purchase yours on the merch page for only $5.

In completely different, exciting news. The band has embarked on a tour. This is no ordinary tour, however, it will be a b-side tour. This is something different for the band. They will not be announcing dates in any form. The promotion of all shows has been left up to the promotors themselves, and will be limited regardless of the promotor or given demographic/venue. The shows have been planned as small shows, as the band will be playing never before heard songs for the entire duration of all the shows on the tour. The band has decided not to take an opening act with them, and will be recording a select number of dates for possible release later in the year. Brian gave us his take of the tour, last weekend:
"We just decided there were some songs that we had penned that didn't make the cut for either of the records, that were really fun to jam, that we thought should see the light of day. This tour is a strange, but totally unique way for these songs to get heard. I won't be present for all the shows, as I have some prior commitments, but we've got some great guys who totally have the vision for this tour, who will play select dates for me, and I think the few fans who get to experience this tour will be glad they did."
The tour will go until early summer, then the band will head out on the 30-country tour in support of "The New Prose", before heading back into the studio to record a third full-length.

2003 promises to be a busy year for the band, so you can expect some kickish activity. Anyway, that's it for now, kick it.
