The American leftists are all cowards at heart. It isn't that they oppose fundamentalism; if that was the case they'd have opposed Mohammedanism. It isn't that they support equal rights; if that was the case they'd have opposed the Taliban. It isn't that they oppose oppression and violence; if that was the case theyd oppose Red China. It isn't that they oppose greed; if that was the case millionaire trial lawyers wouldnt be their darlings. It isnt that they oppose suffering; if that was the case they wouldn't have pushed Africa to ban DDT and therefore allow epidemics of malaria to kill countless children. What they ultimately oppose and fear is having something worth defending. Therefore what ever America does is wrong, and not only not worth defending, but morally wrong to defend. In time of crisis they rationalize that the highest duty is to snicker and sneer from the side lines at those who do the hard work and take the risks. Editor
People who bite the hand that feeds them usually lick the boot that
kicks them. Eric Hoffer
The Declaration of Independence dogmatically bases all rights on the fact that God created all men equal; and it is right; for if they were not created equal, they were certainly evolved unequal. There is no basis for democracy except in a dogma about the divine origin of man. G. K. Chesterton
In the 1970's there were some cold winters that felt even worse because thermostats were turned down due to high oil costs. The government had to do something about global cooling. In the 1990's there were some hot summers that felt even worse due to a shortage of air conditioners. The government has to do something about global warming. Warm, hot, cold, no matter, the solution is always the same: grants for scientists and more power for the nameless bureaucrats in government. Editor
It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. C.S. Lewis
If people are free to do as they wish, they are almost certain not to do as we wish. That is why Utopian planners end up as despots, whether at the national level or at the level of the local "redevelopment" agency. Thomas Sowell
All of political science comes down to this: governments will do what ever it takes to stay in power. Editor
There are no easy answers...but there are simple answers. We must have the courage to do what we know is morally right. -- Ronald Reagan
The media often mention "ultra-conservatives" but never "ultra-liberals." Have ultra-liberals become extinct, gotten lost, or met with foul play? We cannot ignore the fate of fellow human beings, even if we differ with them politically. At the very least, we can report them as missing persons. Thomas Sowell
If we are serious, we can compare one alternative to another, instead of comparing one alternative to perfection. Thomas Sowell
Government is not reason. Government is not eloquence. It is force. And, like fire, it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master. --George Washington
Lenin said that capitalists would sell the rope that would be used to hang them. Now capitalists think that so long as the communists are dependent on them for rope that they will never be hanged. Worst of all would be to give them a rope factory. In case anyone has forgotten: China is a communist country. Editor
One of the surprising privileges of intellectuals is that they are free to be scandalously asinine without harming their reputations. --Eric Hoffer
In the election of 1992, it was all about the recession and foreign policy was passé. The recession ended before 1992 was even over. In the next eight years at least three third world countries developed the atomic bombtwo of which supported terrorism, and another four or five got close to it; radical Mohammedanism festered and was emboldened by Americas impotent responses to various outrages; Russia fell into turmoil; and communist China set the stage to become a greater threat than the USSR ever was. The person who said it's the economy, stupid was telling stupid people to be concerned only of the economy because it was the only percieved weakness of the sitting president. Editor
Religion
The Christian ideal has not been tried and found wanting; it has been found difficult and left untried. G.K. Chesterton
The News Media
Think of any time when the news media reported on anything of which you personally had knowledge. Did they get any of it right? If not, then why should you think that they ever get anything else right? --Editor

A good plan,
violently executed now, is better than a perfect plan next week. --George S.
Patton
Computer systems are never replaced because they don't work. They are replaced when the unofficial work-arounds on paper and Excel stop working. Then a new system is installed that doesn't work either. Editor

The lottery is a tax on those who don't
know math. Unknown
A dead thing can go with the stream, but
only a living thing can go against it. G. K. Chesterton
The lawyers with full page ads in the phone book--the ones proclaiming million dollar judgments for any and every cause--would better help society if they would instead drive their BMWs into the nearest telephone pole immediately after filling out organ donor cards. Editor
It is amazing how many people think that they can answer an argument by attributing bad motives to those who disagree with them. Using this kind of reasoning, you can believe or not believe anything about anything, without having to bother to deal with facts or logic. Thomas Sowell
Why was syphilis to have been prevented by the people exposed to it changing their behavior, but AIDS is to be prevented by everyone not exposed to it changing their behavior? --Editor
By a curious confusion, many modern critics have passed from the proposition that a masterpiece may be unpopular to the other proposition that unless it is unpopular it cannot be a masterpiece. G.K. Chesterton
When the only tool you have is a hammer, all your problems look like nails. Unknown
It's not the critic who counts. It's not the man who points out how the strong man stumbles, or where the doer of the deed could have done it better. The credit belongs to the man in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood, who spends himself in a worthy cause, who strives valiantly, who errs and come up short again and again, who at best knows the high achievement of triumph, who at worst, fails while daring greatly for he knows his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who know neither victory nor defeat. --Theodore Roosevelt
Fallacies do not cease to be fallacies because they become fashions. G.K. Chesterton
Education
Drill and repetition can never be replaced with gimmicks and games in school and still result in a satisfactory student. Adding up sums can be boring, because it is, but it still needs to be learned. Not only the sums are learned, but hard work is learned as well, which is probably more important in the end. Editor
