The Department of Defense announced at a buffet breakfast meeting this morning in Dublin the placement of an order with SNAP print (Dame Street) for fourteen cardboard Eurofighters.
The Eurofighter, NATO's new strategic fighter bomber is a joint development
of the British Ministry of Defense with the French and German governments,
designed to replace the ageing British Tornado and French Mirage combat
aircraft
A spokesperson for the department described the decision to source cardboard
variant aircraft as driven by cost considerations. The new aircraft will
be stationed at Bewley's at Dublin's Grafton street to "exploit lunchtime
queues", according to sources at Baldonnel. Questioned by press on
the aircraft's military capability when compared to actual metal aircraft
(see graphic below), the Corp described the optimal theatre for deployment
of the new hardware as being "dry conditions with a minimum of pedestrian
traffic".
