Calculating your Pokémon's genes is contingent on knowing their Base Stats for each ability. This document provides Base Stats and Maximum Stats for all 251 Pokémon. It also gives information about how to calculate Pokémon experience points. (This page requires JavaScript to be enabled).
All Pokémon have limitations on how high their stats (Health, Attack, Defense, Special Attack, Special Defense, and Speed) may become. Things that affect their stats are: level, Pokémon genes (DV's), and Stat Experience.
Stat Experience is fully discussed in the Pokémon Genes FAQ available here. This FAQ also provides the formulas necessary to calculate, among other things, genes and Stat Experience.
The Base Stat of any Pokémon ability is an integer number between 0 and 255. 0 indicates the particular ability is very poor while 255 denotes a very high capacity. For example, a Defense Base Stat of 0 might be likened to tissue paper while 255 might be compared to a Sherman tank.
Base Stats describe the overall genetic predisposition of the Pokémon type and do not change from individual to individual.
The Max Stat of any Pokémon ability is simply the highest value that particular stat may possibly reach (at level 100 with a DV (gene) of 15). Each Pokémon has its own personal set of Max Stats which are related to its type, ability, and genes.
Max Stats are directly related to Base Stats. Consequently, if you know a particular Pokémon's Base Stats you can calculate his Max Stats and vice-versa.
Each Pokémon type has a Base XP, which is a number between 0 and 255. The higher the number, the more experience points are given. This is the formula used to calculate how much experience is awarded:
Any fractional values are stripped from the answer.
Your
Dragonite has defeated a level 36 Geodude. Since Geodudes have an XP of 86, the
Dragonite receives 442 experience points.
When a Pokémon defeats his opponent, his Stat Experience in each ability increases. This increase is equal to the Base Stats of his opponent. Since Stat Experience directly controls the stat boost (of up to 63 points), you can affect the way your Pokémon grows. If you want your Pokémon to rise quickly in Health, battle and defeat Pokémon who have a high Health Base Stat.
Below is a list of wild Pokémon that rank highest in their Base Stat. (Those listed do not necessarily have the highest Base Stats, but the highest of those that appear in the wild.) Each ability has a list of the five highest Pokémon Base Stats, with their name and Base Stat in parentheses.
Health Chansey (255), Wobbuffet (190), Lanturn (125), Jigglypuff (115), Kangaskhan (105)

This table's data was taken directly from a game ROM. It was copied electronically; no typos are possible. This information is as inviolate as it comes.
