Welcome to Lockheed's Bio! A brief explaination about where he came
from and how he met his best friend, Katherine Pryde!
Lockheed originally was introduced during the Brood Saga in the Uncanny X-men (issue #166). He
was inside of a being known as the Acanti, who at that time were slaves to the Brood. He had been lurking and hunting Brood for quite some time and ended up coming to the rescue of young Kitty Pryde when the Brood were about to run her down and do horrible things to her.
With a yell of "Flee Brothers" the Brood took off in the opposite direction of one of the "first born" and with a huge blast of fire Lockheed incinerated them where they were...well running away.
Kitty took one look at what turned out to be a very small baby dragon and the two of them bonded immediately. Kitty, though, thought that Lockheed died when Binary and the other X-men ended up blowing up, what they dubbed as "Sleazeworld" to proton paste.
Kitty mourned the loss of her new friend, but it turned out she needn't have bothered. For a couple of weeks later (X-men time) in Uncanny X-men 168, Kitty is home pretty much alone and ends up taking on a bunch of beetle-like aliens. She has just refound Lockheed, who it turns out was roaming around the sub-basement of the mansion since they had returned from space...turns out he was looking for the beetle-like aliens for supper.
Lockheed ends up eating a whole nest of the beasties while Kitty, who can't phase, takes on a couple of the grown up aliens (with a little help from Collossus who makes a last minute save *true super hero style*).
Kitty somehow comes up with the name of Lockheed in the middle of the battle. Lockheed is named after Lockheed Martin, incidently, the guys who built the Blackbird and many other planes.
Professor Xavier lets Kitty keep Lockheed and they have been inseperable ever since.
As for different statistics on Lockheed, it depends on who is writing him. He has been known to talk in broken English (a few choice words or phrases) but under Ben Raab he talked in complete sentences, but only to drive Pete Wisdom crazy. He's small and purple and a baby dragon (he's going to get a lot bigger long after all of his human friends are LOOOONNNNNGGG since passed away). His favorite foods seem to revolve around Brood and other aliens. We know he is one of the "first ones" which means he comes from a very old species of alien dragon.
He shares a deep bond with Kitty and if anyone tries to get close to her and hurt her he'll throw down with them in a second. He does pretty good for the most part too. He was hurt severely once in Excalibur (around Excalibur 39) but he recovered with Kitty dotting on him the entire time. He and Kitty are probably the longest and closest friendship that has existed in the Marvel universe.
Sadly, Lockheed has been MIA for the past 4 years or so, but that's okay since Kitty has lost her mind, so it's best he not see her like that anyway. We hope to have the old Lockheed and Kitty back together soon.

to now than I do. Other than the fact that Lockheed is so cool, I know nothing about him. I
