"I'll have a quadruple bacon-cheeseburger and a large soda please, but hold the bun 'cause I'm on a diet".

Sounds healthy to me... Give me a break!

The goal of anyone trying to lose weight should be to get rid of the excess body fat, while trying to hold onto as much lean mass and water as possible.

The main reason these diets fail is because they are more concerned about losing weight, instead of losing body fat. It might go something like this:

Some guy goes to the doctor after years of doing nothing. The doctor scares the hell out of him, telling him he has to lose 20 lbs or he'll die. So the guy goes on one of these silly diets (pick one) and loses the 20lbs in 10 days. All is well, right?

WRONG!

When you go on these diets, you're losing weight from fat and muscle.

"So what, a pound lost is a pound lost!"

That would be true if you were talking only about fat. But if you lose 1 pound of muscle, you also lose the ability to burn the calories that 1 pound of muscle was able to burn. And guess what happens when you're still taking in calories that you are now unable(because of muscle loss) to burn. YOU GET FATTER. This is why people look the way they do when they go off their "diet". They tend to look fatter because they ARE fatter. And Over 90% of people who go on those weight loss "systems" end up fatter than they were within 1 year. Then they try a different "miracle diet" and the same thing happens again. This is called Yo-Yo Dieting. And it is also why the Fat-Loss industry does a couple billion dollars in business each year! Do you HONESTLY think they want you to "keep the weight off"? Hell no! They WANT you to keep coming back. If you didn't, they'd be out of business!

They all talk about "boosting your metabolism", telling you that you need to "take this product to boost your metabolism" so you can burn more calories. But what they don't tell you is that your metabolism is directly related to your percentage of body fat. The higher your %BF...the slower your metabolism...the lower the # of calories you burn. The best way to lose weight is through resistance exercise, which lowers your %BF...raises your metabolism...and allows you to burn more calories throughout your day.

More Muscle = More Calories Burned

Less Muscle = Fewer Calories Burned

So put down that bottle of "Fat Trapper", and do a couple push-ups. You'll be better off.
