(You can use this unit in any order..this just worked best for our class! Also, some books are not listed because you can fit many different books for this unit--which I used a lot of different books which focused on separate things with plants [parts, seeds, how to plant a seed, etc...])

Sorting: Each student will sort pictures into 2 piles and paste the pictures in each pile: Plants/Not Plants Content Standard: SC 7

PLant Green-Haired Creatures: Students will use real soil, and grass seeds to plant in a cup. They will decorate the cup as a face. They will eventually grown and it will look like hair. Content Standard: SC 17

Sorting: Students will sort seeds into piles of their own. Content Standard: MA 16

Recording Observations: Students will record by drawing a picture and dictating to the teacher about their "Green-haired Creatures"...this will be done several times until an observation book is completed. (sample coming soon!) Content Standard: SC 5

Science: Students will sort 2 piles of pictures (What plants need/What plants do NOT need). Content Standard: SC 8

Ordering: Students will sort pictures in order of growth (seed, then sprout, then leave, then flower...). Content Standard: SC 10


Art: Students will decorate a flower to place opn our bulletin board "We've Grown Like Weeds." ---> See Photo Here Content Standard: CE 2, PD 4
