Lewis Carroll was the pen name of the mathematician Charles Dodgson. He worked through the 1800's on logic, geometry and voting systems. He wrote a number of books, including two on logic, one on geometry and a great number of pamphlets and articles on a wide variety of mathematical topics. One of his finest books is called 'Pillow Problems', here is the first puzzle from the book:
