Strawberry Drink
I guess technically this is called a "Smoothie" but the word "Smoothie" sounds more gay than Richard Simmons spending the night at Rip Taylor's house. So I am going to call it "Strawberry Drink". This is dead simple and I'm sure you've made something like it at some point. This is just to give you a good idea. This is seriously healthy; You can practically have this for an entire meal.
Ingredients:
Ok, what you do with all this crap: Wash and stem your strawberries; However you like to do it. I usually just rip the tops off with my thumb but I usually have a sore finger after 2 baskets.
Break apart the bananna into chunks and add them.
Cut up kiwi fruit into chunks and add them.
Add 2 or 3 heaping spoonfuls of plain yogurt. This is of course to your taste and how much room you have left in the blender.
Now the sugar. Usually I don't measure this but just dump a small pile on top of the yogurt. It's to your taste of course. The main purpose of the sugar is to sort of equalize the sour taste of the yogurt.
Some cream or half and half is optional here. You can dump a little bit on top to give it that extra creamy taste.
Now the milk goes last. Just pour milk in until it comes to the top of all the other ingredients. There should be plenty of room in between the strawberries. Obviously more milk if you like it very liquid; less milk if you like it thicker.
Put the lid on the blender unless you like a mess. Go ahead and turn it on "liquefy" and watch the chaos. Obviously you wanna blend until everything is well mixed together. It will be a smooth pink. The thing is if you just leave it blending for a while some stuff might not fall back to the bottom and get chopped up. I usually run it for a bit then pulse it (stop it for a couple seconds at a time). This will let some of the chunks fall back to the bottom into the blades.
Now just pour it into a glass and enjoy. Top with whip cream if you so desire. Usually I like to turn the blender on a little bit before each glass.
Some notes: This is all to your preference of course, so everything except the Milk and Strawberries is optional. This is quite simple to mix and match and leave out any ingredients you don't like. In fact I often make this without a bananna or without kiwi fruits, etc. And of course you can go crazy with whatever ingredients you think would be good here. Try different kinds of fruit etc. I don't recommend using flavored yogurt because flavored yogurts usually have a lot of sugar, especially ones with fruit on the bottom, and after all you want to taste the flavor of the fresh fruit and not any fruit that is in some yogurt.
As far as alcohol goes I'm not sure about adding alcohol with so many milk products in here. I don't think it would be good. I know milk can go with alcohol (White Russians, for example) but if you are looking for a good drink like this but want to get loaded It would probably be easy to find a good strawberry daquiri recipe as I don't know how to make a good one. I'm sure it's similar to this but not quite.
