Blink 182 "Take Off Your Pants and Jacket" |
Review By: The Cluck Date: 7/30/01 |
Blink's Taking Off A very touchy subject to touch upon. Did Blink 182 sell out punk and all its fans, or did they simply grow up [ musically only of coarse ]. Maybe if the CD sucked, I would have to say they sold themselves, but it doesnt, soI wont. I'm not really sure what I like about it. Its filled with typical, but good chord progressions. I think what really grabbed my ear is that they knocked off the fart jokes [ for the most part ] and actually touched upon some serious stuff. This even goes beyond the typical breakup song. |
Songs that some can relate to, like "Stay Together For The Kids" and "Reckless Abandon" make this CD. Though I miss the old sound of Blink [ from Chesire Cat and Dude Ranch ], Im glad this is the next thing for them. They have grown as a band and individuals. For example, I think Tom is a lot better as a guitar player. He isn't as sloppy anymore. Blink 182 was and still is one of my favorite bands and they have given the punk scene a tug foward, something that no one can deny. Like them or hate them, Blinks taking off. |
