well the night started out badly when i walked into the cellar and there was MR. UPTIGHT, this dude who works on the same floor as me who overheard me say something to the busty kimmy and the wuss was "offended" by my racy talk, he told his boss about it who told my boss who talked to me about it, but she's cool and just said to watch what i say around him.........come on, what kind of guy gets offended by hearing stuff like that? then i run into ziola who remarked that i was having a bad hair day, so that's how the evening started, then i start recording and used my short cables and one channel is way higher than the other, so i switched a few minutes in and backed up the tape so i missed the first 4 minutes.......i always loved the rolling jam into fire on the bayou, it's a great tune, one of my favorite covers and it's fine anywhere in the show, this segued right into son of carcass salad and i'm really starting to like this reworked version, joe's voice is so smooth on the verses and i love the flute, then a smooth as silk transition into a really good i wish, julee's turned up way to high though, it really shows when she's playing the sax, the i wish was great, better than the last few which have seem truncated, this was a return to form i wish with the big, fat, thick jam in the middle i dig so much, stuck in the mud, i really like this as a show opener, kinda went out for a schmoke during it though, then it's time for a dr. juice hoedown, theloneous & sue, this was the first original that was my favorite, still say the best one ever was the place in southington with the sliding chairs, dennis really went off on the solo that night, unfortunately i can't find that tape!!!, this version was just okay, in fact, prolly the weakest played song of the night, then crazy girl dedicated to eric, mgm's best song, and kudo's to mike, the vastly under-rated strong backbone of the band, i love julee's wailing intro into ecstacy and then she starts ad-libbing the first few verses, and i hear dennis doing a mountain jam about 7 minutes into the tune for only about 15 seconds, this was a different type of ecstacy and i liked it a lot, julee does some more ad libbing and the tune goes almost 15 minutes before dropping into the always great my good time, and the intro into it is great with equally perfect ctrbs from all band members, and geez, does joe know how to hold onto a bass line or what!, he's right on the money and i'm still mystfied how he's able to play that bass and sing at the same time, it's really remarkable, the intro is almost 5 minutes long and julee's angry sax goes perfectly with the line, "you're ruining my good time" is what the song is all about, shit sandwich is rock solid then it's happy birthday to dennis, the 2nd set opens with a nice little jam b/t julee on flute and mgm until i finally haul the guitar player in from outside and he and joe join the fun for a really nice all bluesjam into a good bodhistavva which hasn't been played a lot lately, dennis throws in a nice ccsf tease or two during a nice long into into fungus amongus and julee's flute play is excellent and its a kick ass fungus, moose is a cool tune, love the julee vocal effects right into a state of mind w some haunting julee vocals, right here again is already joe's 2nd best tune, but not one to end a show on, after we plead for more we talk them into it and joe does one verse or 2 of the end, then a solid leon ends the show GRADE: B+
