(Interview took Place on March 12, 1999)
"-The first person who really recognized the talent in me was my actual manager. He told me you are going to become famous. Then I met my producer. He was very famous at that time, he was Savage at that time, but he was working as a producer. He was producing small projects. And he was looking for a vocalist, and he was the first person who could give me a chance to do something more professionally. I went into his studio and started working as vocalist. But after two or three years we became very close up, that he decided to take care of me. He said O.K one day ; you are going to have your own career.
-My music is the kind of music that you gonna turn up the radio in the morning and enjoy your life. You look at yourself in the mirror, you wash yourself and you feel O.K, because the music is easy. Is easy to listen, it is easy to sing. That’s what I want to do for people. Especially for teenagers.
-I used to walk, especially on the winter on a beach looking at the sea, because the sea is something that could give me a sense of completely freedom. And I think that I couldn’t live with out the sea, because I was born in a city were the sea is good. So I need to have this sense of freedom and I think that singing on a beach without anybody around me is, you know to me a sense of freedom.
-I think that I am lucky, because I was born in a small town, but I saw almost all the world. And it’s nice because you have a small mentality and you have to face the world with a big mentality. If I was born in a town, it was a big city as New York, Milan or London it would be easier to face the world. Instead I had to suffer because sometimes I felt alone when I was traveling all the world, but today I feel lucky. I think it was a necessary to say I had to do this big step, but today I am very happy. And when I go back home I can’t say that I am O.K everyday because I realize that it is a very small mentality. So strange, but I find the balance to live in a big country a big city and a small town.
-My latest single was very good, because I had a very good song for me. "Uh La La La" was the song that everybody sang it that summer. You know the radios and TV programs started knowing me very well, started knowing my face. Oh, Alexia, hi this is your face. Now we got a voice and a face together. That was very important for me and then O.K last year to because I had two important songs also, but in 1997 I started having my own personality.
-My Producer received a fax from this production and they asked for “think about the way” and the fax was written, hand written. So he said what kind of production is this. O.K no problem if you want a song you can have it. So they deal up all the money and everything and then the movie popped and became a cult movie and we was so happy. He said O.K I took a chance like this, just because, well I have to give a chance to another. I said take it Robert take it, no problem. After three or four months Train Spotting became a cult movie and we are very very happy because my voice became famous in England too. And then I go there.., When I went to England to promote my first single it was a success.
Hello everybody I love you and I hope to come back with a big tour of course here in Canada." |
