Uh la la la (Almighty edit) If you ask anyone in the UK or Australia to sing Uh la la la, they'll sing this. In my opinion it is much better than the original with a bright and breezy feel perfect for the summer. At times it does seem to drag in the first minute before the first verse but it's still very good. 8/10
Gimme love/Dame amor To be really honest this plods on slowly. It's catchy but there semms to be no beat and at times Alexia's voice sounds a bit strained. Dame amor is the same but in Spanish. 5.5/10
Gimme love (pump friction Vs precious paul edit) Despite the fact that this is only 16 seconds shorter than the original, this version moves along ever so swiftly. The song is uplifting and very catchy although the "Gimme love, Gimme love, Gimme love, GIMME LOVE!!" bits can get a little irritating. 8.5/10
Gimme love (club short edit) In my opinion, this is the best of the three main gimme loves. Yet another song with a happy and summery vibe the song is unfortunately dragged down by its slow start. 8.75!/10
The music I like Yet another summery song by Alexia. It's bouncy and breezy like a breath of frsh air on a hot summers day. I don't know why but theres something in the instrumental bits which sounds tragic.... 9.5/10
Keep on movin' ARRGGH!! screams my brain after the first five seconds (in case you've forgotten it's the "hey Alexia I love your party etc.." bit). It is then followed by an irritatingly catchy ta ra da ta da etc bit. With the exception of "that woman" popping into the song at various points it's alright although it just needs speeding up a bit. 6/10
Bad boy This is my second least favourite song from "The Party". To me, it sounds cheesy (y' know "come on everybody lets ABC" ABC what?) and the rap doesn't suit Alexia's voice. Sorry. 5/10
Crazy for you A slowie! Crazy for you is one of those pop/slow songs you hear although it leans more towards the slow side. Alexia's voice goes ever so well with the music and I love the ahi ahi ahi bit at the start. 7.5/10
Claro de luna This is a nice dancy song with a spanishy flamenco guitary bits in it which go well together. But one question- what does it mean? 7/10
Everything Either Alexia's had too many Turkish delights or has been spending a lot of time in the desert or I don't know my music. Anyway, in my opinion this song has a mystical, egyptian feel to it that makes you wonder about the desert and pyramids (at least thats what I think about...) It's very very good. 8/10
Feelings This is Alexia in slow mode. Alexia's great voice does wonders to the song and goes really well with all the strings. My only complaint is that the first and second verse are the same. 9/10
Everyday The final dance song on "The Party", Everyday is a good song but the musical bits sound cheesy and I don't care much for the "zis iz not zee luve song, zis song iz not for you" bits. 7/10
I love my boy When my friends first heard this they couldn't stop laughing. The guitar bit is nice but the "I love my boy" bit is a bit... sudden. The lyrics are to be honest terrible and the song is a rip off of Uh la la la. 3/10
Don't love me baby Although this is cheesy, it has a summery vibe and the chorus is nice but I don't care much for the "hello baby" bits in it. 6.5/10
If you say goodbye To me this song doesn't lead anywhere and the chorus isn't that catchy. There are some vocally uplifting bits in it but it's not one of her best. 5/10
The album on the whole:
For her second album, Alexia has cut down on the Eurodance dramatically. In fact she's probably cut down on it too much. What Eurodance that is on this album is fine, and it's nice to see Alexia try out some new styles of music. The ballads on this album are of great quality but the album is let down by it's pop tracks which lean onto the terribly cheesy side. Half of the album is full of great quality songs but sadly the rest is full of average and bad pop songs. |
