This page is a more informal look at me and what I do...

Well the biggest news is that Shane and I are welcomed Elijah Shane into the world on April 14, 2006, two days ahead of schedule. Elijah has his own blog, with photos and updates on his progress. You can see the progress of my pregnancy in the Gallery. I am now on maternity leave for the remainder of 2006.
I'm currently occupying myself by judging an online musical theatre singing competition!
Since graduating from my Master of Teaching course, I've moved to Canberra, where I am now teaching Music, Drama and Dance at a local high school. The move took a while to get used to, but I'm now firmly entrenched in Canberra life and the local theatre scene, as you can see in the Theatre & Performance page!
My job has given me the opportunity to direct six plays with my students at school, three one-act plays and three two-act plays. The former we put on in the drama room/theatrette in the last week of first semester every year: Arts Week; and the latter goes to the Tuggeranong Arts Centre, so the students can experience what it's like to perform in a real theatre! All the plays have been very well received, getting fabulous feedback from the audiences. However, the most recent play, Children of the Black Skirt has been critically acclaimed, receiving nominations in six categories in the CAT Awards! Even more exciting was the news that we had won three awards: Best School or Youth Play, Best Ensemble and Best Director of a Play.
I've performed in at least one show a year since I've been here: A Chorus Line (Bobby), Fiddler on the Roof (Ensemble/Fruma Sarah understudy), Seussical the Musical (Gertrude) and 31st Old Time Music Hall (Featured soloist). Pictures are up in the Galleries.
Our next project (apart from the baby) is renovating the house we bought in July 2005. We've had roof and wall insulation put in, have painted and furnished the nursery and have renovated the bathroom, due to problems with water leaking into the hallway and rotting the carpet and walls.
Despite the issues mentioned above, I'm really enjoying home ownership and life in Canberra, but still miss my family, friends and old students - and the Queensland weather!
Stay tuned for more details... Actually, don't hold your breath; this is not likely to be updated again for a while! Busy busy busy...
