Frequently Asked Questions

Here are a list of questions about Wicca that most people ask. E-mail me if you would like to see your question added.
  • Is Wicca right for me?
There is no "right" religion for anyone. No matter what you choose, there will always be some aspect of it you are not happy with. However, since religions do not please everyone, you must choose one that best suits you. If you've done research on Wicca, and find it pleasing to you, by all means, convert. If you like Buddism, then convert to that. You are not forced to choose a religion you don't want to be a part of. Any religion that promotes peace and good will is acceptable.

  • How do I get started?
Them most important thing you can do is research. Buy books on Wicca, or borrow some from your friends. Make sure Wicca is something that appeals to you, and thay you would like to practice. Talk with people, either in person or on-line, and see what they have to say. Ask them about their beliefs, rituals, and anything else you have questions about.

  • What supplies will I need?
You don't really need supplies, just your knowledge, but there are a few things that will come in handy:
    ~Books...lots of books
    ~Plants & Herbs
    ~Candles/Insence
    ~Oils
    ~A Familiar or Spirit Guide
    ~Amulets (pentagrams, animals, symbols)
    ~Ritual Dagger or Sword
    ~Scyring Ball
    ~Gemstones
While most of these items are not necessary, it is a pretty good idea to have them on hand. Don't go running out to buy them all at once. Just get them as you need them.

  • Do I need a spitit guide?
A spirit guide is not really necessary, but it is a nice idea to have one. The purpose of a spirit guide (or a familiar, if you choose an amimal on this plane) is to guide you throughout your life, and to help you with practicing Wicca. Some spirit guides will come to you, either as an animal(familiar), or in dreams. Some require you to go to another plane to find them. This is done through meditation. Be patient, not everyone finds their spitit guide or familiar on their first try. It took me 2 years to realize one of my fish was my familiar.

  • Don't Wiccans hex people and put curses on them?
Absoulutly not!!!! It is against our religion to hex or curse people. Revenge is not an idea we promote. Fair justice can be gained other way. Our creed clearly states, "Whatever you do shall come back to you in three-fold." This means what ever you do in life, it will come back to you 3 times stronger. If you are kind to someone, then someone else will be kind to you 3 times more. The same applies to hexing and cursing. Wicca forbids black magick of any kind.

  • My friend says if I become Wiccan, I'm going to hell.
Wiccans do not believe in hell. We believe all justice is given to us while we are on earth. Besides, why would you be sent to a world of eternal suffering for what you believe in? For all we know, Catholisism could be could completely wrong, and Hinduism could be completly right. No rightous god would cause us suffering for our beliefs. If people tell you that you are going to hell, remind them that they are entitled to their oponions, but discrimination is not very nice.

  • Why is it spelled MAGICK?
In anicient times, magick was spelled with a 'k'. As languages evolved, the 'k' was dropped, probably for spelling purposes. Today, people spell magick with a 'k' to differentiate between traditional magick, and the "magic" in our modern world, such as the "magic" children's entertainers use.

  • Do I have to celebrate all of the Sabbats?
It is not necessary...the gods understand that not everyone is able to celebrate every single Sabbat. Some people lead very hectic lives, or have parents who aren't partial to Wicca. If you honestly cannot celebrate a Sabbat, then you can do an extra good deed, or do an extra meditation to make up for it. You should try to celebrate Yule and Samhain, if nothing else.
