FUNDRAISING DIRECTOR

 

We are a 501(c)(3)nonprofit/charitable multi-service organization whose goal is to connect the homeless with opportunities for a clean and sober lifestyle, the acquisition of new job skills, gainful employment and affordable housing so that they can rejoin society as redeemed/employed/productive citizens. We aim to provide the homeless with comprehensive services that include shelter, shower/laundry facilities, meals/food items, clothing, referral to basic health care, workshops for anger management, alcohol and drug recovery, substance abuse prevention, smoking cessation, job skills/vocational training, job placement assistance, advocacy for affordable housing, etc....

The Fundraising Director should be experienced, articulate and knowledgeable, with a proven track record to help build and promote the organization's programs and services.

Job Description:
The Fundraising Director will work in conjunction with the Founder, assume full responsibility for directing and managing the fundraising activities, which include the following:

• Design a strategic plan for the implementation of fundraising goals and objectives

• Coordinate fundraising events, event planning

• Create, develop and implement programs to raise funds to meet the annual operating budgets, analyze profit and loss statements, prepare budget

• Grant writing, donor cultivation, writing business proposals

• Develop curriculum and infrastructure for projects, programs and fundraising events

• Recruit and train volunteers and staff for fundraising events

• Develop models for financial development and effective growth

• Develop flyers and brochures.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Fund Raising Planning - The Fundraising Director designs, coordinates, and implements a comprehensive and effective plan for resource development that includes developing plans, identifying and cultivating new supporters, conducting annual solicitations, and setting and meeting fundraising targets. Evaluates programs to ensure that objectives are met. Identifies ways to implement fundraising programs.

• Proposal Writing - Manages the proposal submission process by ensuring that all proposals and reports are submitted accurately and in a timely manner. This will involve identifying new donors as well as preparing reports to prospective funders.

• Reporting and Tracking System - Tracks funder reporting requirements, and manages the submission of funder reports. Supervises and implements a computerized prospect management and donor tracking system including ensuring the integrity of the organization's recording of grants and investments, and timely compliance with reporting requirements. Provides appropriate reporting to the Founder.

• Board Development Committee - Works with the Founder to establish goals, manages a personal fund solicitation program, and assists with selected special fundraising events.

• Individual Giving - Builds a system to identify, cultivate, and solicit annual and major donor and gifts prospects.

• Volunteer Management - Recruits and engages volunteers to help further fund development goals.

• Special Events - Designs and manages special events, including an annual donor recognition event and a holiday adopt-a-family program. Identifies and evaluates other potential fundraising special events.

• Marketing - Manages the development and production of marketing materials supporting specific fundraising and organizational activities.

• Research & Development - Using internal and external data sources, works with Founder to identify, evaluate, and recommend new program initiatives matched with identified funding sources.

Requirements:
• Demonstrated marketing acumen with hands on marketing experience in the development of marketing materials and vendor management. Demonstrated ability to conceptualize and implement effective cultivation and solicitation strategies for raising funds

• Demonstrated proficiency in grant writing, budget and staff management, individual donor and capital campaigns, fund raising and development

• Experience managing direct and indirect staff.

• Ability to develop and implement fundraising budget.

• Self-starter who can identify the opportunity and develop programs and projects to meet goals

• Excellent written and oral communication and presentation

• Good organizational skills, creative problem solving, and ability to multi- task

• Demonstrated ability to work alone as well as in a team environment, build consensus and problem solve, and provide leadership

• Experience working with non-profit organizations helpful.

• Knowledge of PC-based computing systems including use of word processing, spreadsheets, databases, internet browsing, and e-mail software.

• Proficiency in fundraising software like "Raiser's Edge".

• Experience in partnering.

• Marketing and public relations experience with media.


Recommended Skills:
• Knowledge of homeless alcohol and other drug abuse programs a definite asset

• Positive attitude, enthusiastic and tenacious

Education/Experience/Skills:
Qualified candidates should be serious about helping others and be dedicated to providing superior customer service. A four-year degree is a plus but not as necessary as experience in a professional fund development position.

Salary and Benefits:
This is currently a volunteer position destined to become a paid position once funds are raised.
