OUT AND ABOUT
- the URE Mayday Party, Timepiece -

TOM'S VIEW

The URE mayday party at Timepiece was notable for several things. The DJs were URE through and through. Dave Killingback chucked out some platters. Chris Homewood dealt in the international currency of the beat. Mark Seddon wore the trousers that... er... you get the idea. The fancy dress theme was "Pop Star Lookalikes". I wore my little brown leather jacket, crappy shoes and white shirt and went as Neil Codling from Suede. Tony wore a black shirt and gelled his hair a bit and went as Nick Cave. Obviously. The beer was flowing. Carlsberg was just a pound a bottle. After drinking about six, I discovered that my belly had bloated to the size of a small cow. Of course, the lovely thing about drinking from bottles, is that the empty bottles on your table stand as a testament to your prowess. After a while, me and Tony had quite a few, but not as many as Nick Martindale from the Nick and Phill show, who had brought some friends. Using their temporary absence from the table whilst dancing to the frightfully over-rated "All the Small Things" by Blink 182, we launched an undercover mission to steal bottles from their table to look harder. Result - utter success! Until the barman came over and nicked them all. What other facts were important? There was a mysterious table full of Me One tapes that we had tried to give away on a show, but failed. Harry Harris was looking a bit grumpy. Finally, we got bored of sitting on our table by the door and progressed to the dancefloor. A little worse for wear at this point, due to the Carlsberg sickness descending upon us, we decided to dance a little too enthusiastically to "Everything" by the Dum Dums. To cut a long story short, I fell over. On my arse. Shamed and humiliated (I wouldn't have minded if I was dancing to a better song), we decided to leave. Thus, my URE Mayday Party experience ended.
