The Rounds

ROUND THREE

TOM scores 3 points for being on Croissants and Toast, after Charlie Dassonville asks live on air if he's woken up yet. Non-No Show and a request, please! Next stop, Bangers and Ash! This show had always promised to be an absolute cavalcade of Ubiquitousness, and Tom got off to a stormer on Ash's first show by getting a Non-No Show, a long and loud plug and a request. (Bellatrix, no less...) Then, branching out somewhat, a brief but vital Non-No Show appearance on the cooler-than-thou The Fridge. Chris Homewood Needs Help was the title of the next one... A non-No Show and a plug were only the beginning. Entering Chris's competition to win a Pound of Pennies, Tom just could not understand what he had to do for the competition. Nevertheless, following some sneaky prompting from Homewood, the pennies were his. (and picked up the following day from Homewood himself) Tom also garnered an insult in this appearance, berating Chris for not knowing how to use the board, even though he had actually taught Tom how to use it. Duh. Finally, the Blonde Bombshell show announced that a prank caller, calling himself 'Terry' and then 'June' , was Tom Davies. Like a cat picking up a dead mouse, the points were Davies's for the taking - a non-No Show and a reconciliatory request (Steps... gaaaa!)

TONY's first two points came this round from the arrival of his Smashing Pumpkins CD, which arrived at his home in Farnborough, and was in fact, very good. Tony too appeared on the Blonde Bombshell show, getting a request for Belle and Sebastian, which provoked a heated studio debate about the wide-ranging nature of Karen and Liz's record collections. Then, on Bangers and Ash, which Tony had effectively taken over the week before (but without tape evidence), Tony pulled his meisterwerk. Calling up in response to Ash's "stylistic feature" on Macy Gray, Tony proceeded to pretend to be Macy Gray, with startling effectiveness. Highlights of the conversation include Macy talking about her squirrel farming antics, Macy discussing her love of South Park's Cartman and Macy's opinion on LGB Awareness Week ("Let's be straight, I'm not...") In recognition of this stunning round, I'm upping the points for pretending to be someone else from 2 points to ten. Tony then rung up later and won and received some White Lightning cider, which he proceeded to drink through our show, whilst loudly complaining about the state of the youth today and sitting on a bench. Some of that might not be true...

ROUND FOUR

TOM took advantage of the fact that Tony had a week off by chalking up some classy appearances. On Instant Replay, Alex Gener (the Station Manager of URE) accepted his request and did not recognise him! Three points! On the Nick and Phill show, Tom not only got a rather lovely plug from Nick Martindale himself, but also managed to insult "Toca's Miracle". Sixteen points! On Croissants and Toast, Tom had an unprecedented success with Charles Dassonville creating a new item around him - the Overrated Song of the Week! Sadly, there isn't a category for this, but it counts as a plug. Six points! Finally, a massive conversation on Breakfast with Jules garners him three points for a non-No Show and a request.
SCORE - 28 points

Also this week, long-time listener BARRY launched his own Ubiquity career with a non-No Show, a No Show plug and a request. Well, almost. Ash asked him if he wanted a request and he said... "Er... no." But to be fair, he did later ask for "Eat the Rich" by Aerosmith which Ash didn't understand. Ho-hum.
