Chapter 18
The next morning, Lynn ran upstairs to Justin's room to wake him up with the phone in her hand.
"Justin..honey wake up! The phone.."
"Hmmm?"
"Justin. Its Alyssa. Wake up!!"
Justin jumped up and franticly grabbed the phone from his mom.
"Lyss? What is it?? What's wrong?"
"Justin guess what?!?"
"What?"
"SHE'S AWAKE!!!" Alyssa yelled into the phone. "They took her off the machine early this morning and about an hour later she woke up! Now hurry up and get your butt down here, She's already asked where you were at and I told her you've been down here the whole time."
"Ok..OK.." Justin said while holding the phone with one hand while trying to put his clothes on with the other.
"Im on my way."
Alyssa got off the phone with Justin and called Andi, Vanessa and the rest of the guys.
By the time she hung up with them, Justin had already gotten there.
"Good Lord, what did you do? 90??" she asked him as he came running in the waiting room. Justin just smiled and headed back to Dani's room.
"Hey there he is." Travis said to Dani as Justin and Alyssa walked into the room.
Dani looked 100% better than she had before. She was sitting up in the hospital bed a little and she had some oxygen hooked up to her, helping her breathe on her own. Her color looked a lot better as well. She didnt look as pale as she had before. She turned her head when Justin walked in and smiled.
"Hey." she whispered
"Hey you!! How ya feeling?" Justin said happily as he went over and gave her a small little hug. Dani tried her best to hug him back. It took all the energy she had to barely raise her arms up.
"Im still here." she said, smiling weakly,
"You know you had me worried there for awhile." Justin said while brushing the hair away from her face.
"I know...Lyss told me you stayed. Thank you."
"My pleasure sweetie." He said as he kissed her forehead.
"Im sorry...I can't hardly talk.." Dani said, trying to explain why she was talking so softly.
"It's ok."
"The doctor said it was because of the ventilator." Travis said to Justin.
"Oh. Well its ok. I can still hear ya. I don't think the thousands of screaming girls have made me deaf yet."
Dani smiled and took Justin's hand in hers.
"Guys..I wanna talk to Justin..if that's ok."
"That's fine sweetie..Me and Travis will just go outside and wait on the others."
As Alyssa and Travis went outside, Justin sat down on the stool beside Dani's bed and continued to hold her hand. So many nights he sat there and prayed for her just to move her fingers...Now she was awake and seemed to be doing so well! It truly was a miracle.
"Guess what I did last night?"
"What?"
"I broke up with Ellie."
"Oh?" Dani said. "How come?"
"Well..I called her because I realized she wasnt right for me and then when I called I ended up getting another reason. She was using me to cheat on someone else."
"Wow."
"Oh yea..youre real surprised about that I'm sure." Justin said laughing. "I should have just listened to you."
"To me?"
"Yeah. You said it yourself that she wasnt right for me and that I wasnt in love with her. You were right."
"When did I say that?"
"Umm..that night at Johnny's. I kinda overheard you and Lyss talking."
"You did?"
"Yeah. Dani look, Im sorry. Im sorry about what happened in Vegas, Im sorry about the way I acted when I was with Ellie. I was such a jerk to you and you never deserved to be treated like that. But most of all, Im sorry that it took something like this to open up my eyes. Dani, I love you. You're the one for me. You always have been."
Dani turned her face away from Justin and started to cry.
"Hey..hey don't cry. Everything is going to allright now. Everythings going to be fine. We're finally going to be together..."
"Justin...don't." Dani said while crying. "Don't say that. It's only making what I have to say harder."
"What? what is it?"
"I...I'm too weak. My body got too dependant on the life support. Justin, I'm not going to make it."
"Don't say that you've made it this far." Justin said as Dani shook her head. "Hey, Maybe they can put you back on the ventilator and gradually take you off if youre that dependant on it?"
"No Justin. I don't want to go back on that thing. I never wanted to be on it in the first place."
"Well...But Dani you have to have faith. You can't just give up."
"Justin listen to me." She said, staring at him with pleading eyes. "Nobody knows whats going to happen. I just want you to be ready in case something does. I don't want you to get your hopes up. You know I would give anything for us to be together. But please...Don't get your hopes up."
Justin sat there in silence and nodded his head. He refused to believe that she wasnt going to get better. He knew she was, He couldnt lose her again.
"And Justin?"
"Yea?"
"I love you too." Dani said smiling.
Justin smiled and got up from his seat and kissed her gently on the lips.
"We're gonna be together." He said while staring deep into her eyes. "Im not going to loose you again.
"Hey! Look who just woke up!" JC said walking in the room with Vanessa, Andi, Chris, Joey and Lance.
"Hey guys." Dani said smiling.
"And look..." Joey said, pulling a teddy bear with a bright red bowtie from behind his back. "A bear for the Danibear."
"Awww...he's cute." she said as Justin sat the bear on her bed. "Thanks Joey. I'll name him Red."
"Then I'll hafta steal him from you." Alyssa said coming in the room.
"How are you feeling Dani?" Lance asked.
"Im still here...thats pretty much it."
"You're gonna be fine."
"I hope so." she said, looking over at Justin.
"Hey girl." Andi said standing on the other side of her bed with Vanessa beside her.
"Hey."
"You have to get better. We all gotta go shopping for dresses. All those awards shows are gonna be coming up and Curly over there is gonna need a date." Andi said smiling.
"Yeah since he's currently single." Vanessa said.
Justin looked up at them. "Huh? How did you guys know?"
JC started laughing. "Ellie called Johnny this morning. She's getting a new manager."
"What? She's leaving Johnny because of me?"
"Obviously man..I dunno."
"Oh well." Justin said laughing. "Her loss."
Dani smiled and looked over at him. "So, I guess I have to get a baby blue dress huh?"
"You can wear whatever color you want."
"Ooo..Andi get me a bright orange dress with pink polka dots then." she said laughing a little bit.
"Uhhh...Ok Maybe you should just stick with baby blue." Justin said as they all started laughing.
"No Im just kidding. But its great to see you laugh again."
"Sure is puddin pop. Too bad I can't swing you over my shoulder like the good ol' days."
"Uh huh..thats too bad Chris." Dani said sarcastically as she started to close her eyes.
"Getting tired?" Justin asked her.
"A little bit."
"Maybe we should go and let you rest then."
"Ok. I love you guys."
"We love you too." Everyone said as they hurried out of the room so that they wouldnt start crying in front of her. They all told Alyssa goodbye since she was going to stay there with her.
"Bless her little heart" Andi said while wiping her eyes. "It took so much for her to even talk to us."
"She'll be fine. Dani can fight this." Chris said hugging her.
"Hey Justin..are you planning on staying here? Because if not...We have everything set up at the studio to record that song."
"Right now?"
"Well, yeah if you want to. If you don't thats fine."
"No its ok. I'll go. Let me just go tell Dani bye."
"Ok."
Justin went back into the room just as Dani was fixing to fall asleep.
"Dani?"
"Yeah?"
"Me and the guys are thinking about recording a song tonight. Do you want me to stay here?"
"No. Go on." she said "This album means a lot to you guys, You need to get it finished for your fans."
"Are you sure? Because I'll stay if you want me to."
"Im sure."
"Ok then. I'll be back tonight as soon as we get finished allright?"
"Ok." she said nodding her head. "I love you."
"I love you too." Justin said as he leaned over and kissed her once again. "See ya tonight." he said while walking out of the room.
