Chapter 7
Later on that day, JC, Chris, Joey and Justin were already at the venue doing a sound check. Lance and Dani hadnt got back yet. Justin was checking all the mics to see if they worked properly. He didnt have to do it but he wanted to stay busy and keep his mind off Dani. The thought of her being with Lance turned his stomach.
"Hey Justin." Joey said coming up to him
"Hey."
"Whatcha doin?"
"Checking the mics."
"Need any help?"
"No." Justin said partialy ignoring him.
"Is something wrong?"
"Nope."
"Are you sure?"
"Uhhh huh.."
"Have I done something?"
"Joe! No. Im fine."
"Ok then." Joey said looking down at his watch.
"Man we need to get busy, where is Lance and Dani already?"
Justin looked up at Joey and then rolled his eyes and walked off to test a diffrent mic.
"Justin?"
"Yes Joey?" he said getting aggravated.
"You've already tested that mic."
"I dont care."
Joey stood there a minute and then shrugged his shoulders and walked off to see what the others were up to.
"Oh look its Dani and Lance." Chris said smiling as he walked up beside of Justin. Chris knew he was getting to him but he didnt understand why it was bothering him that much. He just thought that he was being jealous. If he knew about what had went on between the two of them, he wouldnt have been bothering Justin at all. But...he didnt. Therfore he continued to annoy him.
"Dontcha think they make a cute little couple?" He said as Dani and Lance were making thier way up to the stage. Justin walked away from him in silence.
"Hmmph..fine be that way...Dan Dan!!" Chris yelled as he jumped off the stage and ran to Dani.
"Chris Chri..No! Stop CHRIS PUT ME DOWN!" Dani screamed as Chris picked her up and threw her over his shoulder.
"Oh come on Dani, Im just giving you a lift."
"Chris! NOW!"
"Heh..Now? Now what??" he joked.
"Put me down!"
"Hmmm..ok, Gosh Dani youre so Stupid! Ok was that a good enough put down?"
"Chris!" she said grabbing onto his hair.
"Ow ow Ok ok ok, Not the hair..not the hair!!" he said sitting her back down on her feet.
"You owe me now."
"What??"
"You owe me..that hurt."
"Well I didnt apprieciate being slung over your shoulder either doofus!"
"Doofus?" Chris said laughing.
"Yeah doofus. Its your new name. Live with it." Dani said walking off.
"Ok well umm..Knothead?...how about being my date at the club tonight."
Dani was walking a little ahead of Chris, but when he said that she stopped and he almost ran into her.
'Another one??? Gosh what am I...Nsync's official girlfriend or something?'
"Your date?" she asked.
"Yeah, you know, nothing serious. Just someone to dance with."
'Sounds harmeless enough..Okay fine..'
"Sure, sounds like fun."
"Cooool...well seeya later puddin pop."
"Bye doofus."
That night the guys put on a great performance as usual. But Dani could tell there was a LOT of tension goin on onstage. Especially when they sang thier new song Bye bye bye. Justin seemed to stare a hole through her during the entire song. She figured he was ticked at Lance, and if he had found out about Chris' asking her out, then he was ticked at him as well. But why? She didnt belong to him. He avoided her and he's been avoiding her. So she was allowed to go out with whoever she pleased right??
Later on that night at the club, the guys and Dani were sitting around. Chris kept cracking jokes while Justin sat over in the corner to himself in silence.
"Danibelle?"
"Chrisipoo?" she said mocking him.
"Lets go dance...come on!" he said pulling her up.
"No nonono NO Chris this is a fast song."
"Well...duh!"
"Well...I cant dance."
"Yes you can."
"Well...I dont like dancing."
"Yes you do!!"
"Fine." Dani said as Chris continued to pull her along.
"Ok Chris. Im coming...You can stop pulling me now.."
"Wassamatta Justy?" Joey said as Justin stared in anger at the dance floor."
"Let him be Joe." JC said
"Ok WHAT did I miss this morning, will somebody tell me? anybody?" Joey said while looking around at the others.
"Nothing..just everybody taking what doesnt belong to them."
"And she belongs to you Justin?"
"Dont start with me Lance."
"Justin we went to EAT for crying out loud. Just as friends..Yeah I was kinda interested in her but after today I realized she doesnt feel the same about me."
"Im sorry man its just..." Justin looked up and saw Chris and Dani dancing.
"What is he doing?"
"Theyre dancing Justin.."
"He looks like he's gonna jump her right there in the middle of the floor!"
"Justin..come on now....he's not, Justin? Where ya goin? Justin dont..." JC said as Justin headed out on the floor.
"Whats he gonna do?" Joey asked
"I dont know...guys come on."
"WHAT do you think youre doing??" Justin said grabbing Chris' shoulder and jerking him away from Dani.
"Dancing, little boy..whats it to ya?" Chris said pushing him away.
'oh God whats going on?' Dani thought as she stepped back away from them. 'Why are they fighting? Im just dancing with Chris and Justin..he...he's completly avoiding me. No no please God just make them stop please?'
Dani looked up and saw Justin pushing Chris back harder. Chris had his arm pulled back fixing to hit him when Justin ducked and punched Chris in the stomach. Chris held his stomach, doubled over in pain, and looked up at Justin.
'What is he doing? Does he not care that he just hurt his best friend??' Dani was standing away from them fixing to cry. She wanted to leave. She wanted to just go home and forget about everything. That would be the only solution to the problem.
"Ok Justin...You want a fight? Allright then." Chris said knocking Justin down on the floor. Justin struggled to get back up while Chris was fixing to jump on him.
"Chris! Stop!" JC said pulling Chris back. Joey helped Justin get up and held him back as well.
"Me stop? He's the one coming over here and punching me in the stomach for no reason!"
"Oh it was HARDLY no reason Chris and you know it."
"I was just DANCING with her Justin!"
"I saw what you were doing."
"No what you saw was your ego getting crushed because you realized not every girl in the world wants you." Chris said as Justin tried to get free from Joey's grip, but the soreness in his back from the fall made him stop. Dani couldnt take anymore. She ran in between the guys and headed for the door without a word.
"Dani!" Lance said following her. He went outside and looked around but couldnt find her. Finally he decided to check the bus.
"Dani?" He said pulling back the curtains of her bunk.
"What?" She said sniffling
"Hey..come on now dont do that."
"It..its...all my fault."
"No Dani its not your fault!"
"Yes it is." she said getting up and walking over to the couch. "Ive never seen them that angry before."
"Ahh we get in fights a lot. Dont worry too much about it." he said sitting beside her and putting his arm around her shoulder.
"Yeah but that bad?"
"Well...honestly no. Ive never seen those two that mad. But Justin...he's just I dunno, He's got one bad temper and a jealous streak to go along with it. And Chris well, He doesnt take well with somebody bossing him around, Especially someone who's ten years younger than him ya know?"
"Yeah."
"But I dunno..Justin's acting like he owns you or something. I just dont get it."
Dani sat there in silence. 'What if I just TOLD him how I felt about him? Then I wouldnt have went out with Lance and then I wouldnt have danced with Chris, I would be with him...''But He couldve told you too...''Thats not the point..''Yes it is.''Its all my fault..Maybe I should leave...'LEAVE??? NO you CANT LEAVE!''Yes I can.''NOOOO what about Justin? he just punched his best friend because of you?''I dont WANT him to punch Chris because of me! I should LEAVE..''NO'YES'NO'
"YES!" Dani said out loud startling herself.
"Yes what?"
"Nothing." she said as she saw the others get on the bus. Justin first, then Joey, JC and Chris. Justin looked down at her and then walked back to his bunk. Everyone was silent. She looked over at Chris. She felt as if she should be apologizing to him. He faintly smiled back at her as if he knew what she was thinking. Dani had a decision to make and it wasnt gonna be easy.
