Dwarven information

During the battle at Gargath's castle, some gnomes were changed by the Graygem's magic and became the first dwarves. Dwarves are similar in appearance to gnomes and are known for their great craftmanship. Dwarves are shorter and stockier than humans or elves, but as such they are more solid than either of the taller races. Dwarves live in underground dwellings for the most part, preferring to spend their days mining precious metals or shaping stone and metal to their will. They are exceptional blacksmiths and craftsmen. Dwarves live to be about 350 years old. The most important feature of any dwarf is his beard. Even dwarven women have whiskers, but the men are able to grow a full beard, of which they are intensely proud. The only dwarf to shave his beard was Kharas, the dwarven hero, who shaved it to show his shame in killing his countrymen during the Dwarfgate War. In addition, dwarves have infravision, the ability to sense direction, depth and slope underground and are incredibly resistant to magic, distrusting its properties almost entirely. Like the elves, the dwarves experienced a split in their unity when some of the dwarves who preferred to live outside left the underground dwellings for the freedom of the exterior. These dwarves came to be known as the Neidar, or Hill Dwarves. The remaining clans of Mountain Dwarves are known as the Hylar, Daewar, Theiwar, Daergar, Aghar, Klar and Zhakar.

The Dwarven Way
Humans, Elves, Kender, Gnomes, none quite like the Dwarves. It was said by Mistral Thrax, the wise Calnar/Hylar, that Dwarves were created after the God's became displeased with the other races. To Dwarves, they are the master race of Krynn. Dwarves are practical in their ways. Most of their weapons are also tools, and vise versa. But as the saying goes Look to the left side of your tools, dwarves are always ready to use their tools as weapons. Haters of magic, lovers of work, Dwarves detest most humans. Not all though. Only few dwarves have met the elusive Elves of Qualenesti.

Their god:
Reorx is their god, and he is the only true god. Other races know Reorx by other names, or place other gods above him, but the dwarves know that they are deluded. Thak is the god of the elves, Mesalax and Kijo the gods of the humans. Because people do not always act according to Reorx's wishes, evil beings can enter the world and destroy it. We know of Tamex the False Metal, Sargonnax the Bender, Morgax the Rust Lord and others. Be wary for their works.
