In 8700PC, Reorx God of the Forge took some humans to be taught his craft. Most humans at the time were living meager lives or under the heel of the Ogres as slaves. The humans that Reorx educated in the ways of the forge were turned into Scions in 3100PC by the Graygem. Scions were golden skinned short folk with magical power, most of them were killed off by humans and few survived. Some of the remaining Scions again meet with the Graygem 151 years later (2900PC) when they were turned into Dwarves. It is unclear how the former Scions dispersed upon becoming Dwarves. The first Dwarven organized civilization was a great one, they called themselves the Calnar. The Calnar delved a place called Thorin (which is north east of present day Thorbardin, in the Khalkist Mtns). In Thorin the Dwarves ascended to great success in smithing, culture and created such well fashioned metal work that they opened up trade with surrounding humans towns. The Humans traded rich ores for fine workmanship. Unfortunately the Calnar city fell to a jelous humans who attacked Thorin because they felt the earth below it was the Dwarves key to success. Some Calnar stayed to rebuild their once great city after defeating the humans; their leader Colin Stonetooth left with the devastation to seek out a new place because Thorin was dead to him, as was one of his sons. Far to the south west, in a place called Kal-Thax, the Calnar discovered four clans of Dwarves warring with one another and trying to keep human raiders out at the same time. Theses were the Daergar, Daewar, and Theiwar and Klar. The Calnar organized all the clans into a single city under the Kharolis Mtns of Kal-Thax, which was discovered by the Daewar. They set up a Thanedom where each clan was represented by one and all the clans ruled over the whole Dwarven Nation. The Calnar taught these Mountain Dwarves many secrets of things like sun tunnels, harnassing the power molten rock and more, and the other clans taught the Calnar some of thier own innovations also. All the clans had a job under the mountain and it kept growing with few sub racial fights. The city was named Thorbardin, the Calnar also took a new name, calling themselves the Hylar; some Calnar/Hylar preferred the forest to the mountains and lived outside of the mountain, they were the Neidar. They found roaming Dwarven clans called Einar who were given the choice to live with them or under the mountain. The Neidar provided timber to the Mountain Dwarves and protection/alerting of human raids. Thorbardin eventually solved the problem of humans raids by becoming an inpregnable fortress to outsiders and walled itself within the mountains. The Dwarves also set up trade with surrounding humans because of the demand for thier excellent craftmanship. Within the center of Thorbardin exist the Life Tree, a living stalcalite where the Hylar live. Surrounding it is the Urkhan Sea which stretches 7 miles north-south.
