The High God came when all of the world was void and full of chaos. Being all alone the High God wanted to make other, lesser gods. The High God was the one who envisioned Krynn and set the lesser gods to work on it. After the world was completed, the High God grew weary, and withdrew from Krynn, leaving it into the hands of three other gods: Paladine, Takhisis, and Gilean. The High God is not worshipped on Krynn, few people much less know of his/her existence. Hiddukel, the Prince of Lies and also a good deal maker, tricked Chislev to ask Reorx to make a gem with the essence of neutrality. Reorx was too happy to make it, and accidentally he trapped Chaos, the High God. The gem was known as the Graygem, and always brings trouble in Krynn. In 383AC the Irda, because of the expansion of Knights of Takhisis, decided to break open the Graygem. They wanted to use the power inside to drive back the Knights of Takhisis. Unfortunately they didn't know what was inside. With the release of Chaos, Krynn inhabitants felt the wrath of Chaos and the event was known as Second Cataclysm. Chaos was defeated in the Battle of the Rift. In this final battle Steel Brightblade and his small band of Knights of Takhisis, and also a small group of Knights of Solamnia fought together against Chaos. With the distraction of Palin Majere's final spell and a knife cut from Tasslehoff Burrfoot, Chaos was defeated. The terms of Chaos's surrender was that the gods must leave Krynn. Paladine returned one last time to give the message of the gods departure. With the absence of gods and subsequently magic, from the moons, Krynn enters a whole new Age.

Paladine's Avatar: After the dark days of the Cataclysm, Paladine reentered the world in the form of the befuddled old wizard Fizban the Fabulous. Mishap upon mishap piles up around the flustered Fizban but, in the end, all mistakes work together to form a startling victory.
RPaladine is Father of Good and Master of Law. He speaks for the gods of Good, leading them not by restriction but by example and encouragement. Paladine upholds the laws of Good, assisting the righteous and abjuring the evil.
Following the devastation of the War of the Lance, Paladine has two main goals - to keep Takhisis in her banishment and to bring light and hope again to the beleagured nations of Krynn. Even in the lull following the war, Paladine has returned occasionally in avatar form to spur on the work of Good.
As a greater god, Paladine can maintain many avatars at once. One form is a perpetually smiling, rotund, hard-of-hearing priest who sees the best of everyone. Luckily, in his presence, the best is always drawn out. He also takes the form of an elderly warrior with a dragon on his crest. In this form he wears a Solamnic moustache and no beard. Despite thinning hair and creaking joints, he remains youthfully nimble and intuitive when the need arises. Deadly in battle, he is even more skilled as a statesman, swaying crowds with his eloquent speeches.
Gilean
Symbol: An Open Book
Color: Gray
Influence over: Knowledge
Constellation: An Open Book
Spheres of Influence: Major: Numbers, Time; Minor: Thought, Wards
Other Name: The Great Sage
Gilean's Avatars: Gilean takes the form of a book-toting scholar of middle age, intent on a particular topic and absent-minded about everything else. This male or female avatar may appear as a human, elf, dwarf, or kender. Although apparently self-absorbed, Gilean slyly tests the preconceptions of folk he encounters. Those who learn from such tests gain a bit of secret knowledge or an answer to a troubling question. Everyone believe that Astinus the Chronicler is the Avatar of Gilean.
Gilean is the patriarch of the neutral family of gods. He holds a book, the Tobril, that contains all the knowledge possessed by all the gods. All truth is contained in that single tome, but portions of it are sealed. Gilean resides in the night sky between the constellations of Paladine and the Queen of Darkness, as if to hold them in their places and keep them from destroying each other. His real abode is believed to be the Hidden Vale, a perfect valley of nature that exists everywhere and yet nowhere. The ways to the vale are sometimes opened to those who follow the wisdom of Gilean.
Takhisis
Not even fools or children speak the name Takhisis lightly. Her name summons darkness, destruction, and death. Swathed in shadow and hatred, she desires only the domination and destruction of Krynn and its folk.
Takhisis is the embodiment of Evil. She enjoys preying on the weaknesses of others, using their hearts' desires to enslave them. She is cold and brilliant; exploitation has become second nature to her. Takhisis hates good, loves cruelty, and hoards wealth. She happily dwells in her former prison, the Abyss, plotting her next return.
