Yes, I think the body is a beautiful and amazing thing. I also think that sex is a lovely thing that is intended to be shared between husband and wife. There are two parts of Genesis 2:24-25, "For this cause a man shall leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave to his wife; and they shall become one flesh. 25 And the man and his wife were both naked and were not ashamed." Enjoying the nakedness was in the context of marriage (a part you omitted) NOT promiscuous sex. Lust is an aberation of love and that was what Jesus was speaking against. This returns me to my original question. Once again, I am not trying to insult you but to get a better understanding of how you follow Scripture. How can you on the one hand say you follow Jesus yet on the other hand advocate things that are in contradiction with his words? Do you say they were not Jesus' words or do you believe them to be His words and not follow them anyway? Rictus and Adolph...Can this discussion be taken to another discussion thread (all is Adolph vs. Rictus Battle Royal or something)? It does diminish the purpose of this thread. It does not matter who's at fault here. What really matters is that we have always attempted to have a thread that talks about ideas instead of personal attacks. Incidentally Adolph, I have felt in many ways that Prarie has done the things you speak of about Rictus. He has attacked my friends and in indirect ways myself, and he comes into this thread posts long questions and expects responses without continuing to be part of the thread. However, that does not mean that I should not love him and treat him with the respect that he deserves as a human being. Both of you have apologized to eachother once before. That is admitting you were wrong. I wish you both would have continued in that spirit. There was a time when I fiercely disagreed with Rosa and she and I both exchanged harsh words. Now, we have continued in a spirit of mutual forgiveness and she's one of my favorite people on the bbs. The problem is not with the church but with the world's view of sexuality. If sex was only reserved for marriage, then the disease would not be spread as quickly. In the case of Africa, the disease would only be passed on through the children or in blood transfusions or among families. Regarding Rictus, as you know I love him. Devilmunchkin and Rictus are the only two people on this bbs who have my personal email address. The one I posted on here is for chatting purposes only and does not contain my name. I was going to send you one my personal email address once I received yours. However, I will respect your wishes. The reason I spend time here is that it has given me a great deal of insight on how this generation thinks. I am a pastor and I work at a Christian college. I am constantly surrounded by Christians. I work with gang members and people in prison but usually in a ministry context. Many of my friends are not Christians but I still like to get a fresh understanding of how this generation thinks. Plus I usually come on in the midst of my study breaks so it is a nice break in the midst of my homework for school. If my primary purpose was to convert, I would have left a long time ago. But where else can I talk about Christ and people from Germany, England, Finland and Turkey will listen or better yet that I can learn from myself? I also consider this a great place to learn to defend my faith and to grow in the process. To me I love everyone here and my primary goal is to give them hope. I can think of few places on the web where so many people are lacking in hope as this one (if anyone disagrees just look at how many suicide threads there are). Enough about me. Adolph, why did you originally come here and why do you spend so much time here? Nevertheless, I hope that you and Rictus eventually mend your relationship. You are both people that I highly respect and I hate to see you fighting. As I said before, I would love to see more Gandhi and less of the Adolph. Like Gandhi, I'd love to see you respond to attacks in a non-violent way but with love and grace. That is why my name is freegrace. Please note, that unlike the Catholic church, I am not opposed to contraception. Many Africans are actually protestant and they do not adhere to the Pope's views on contraception. However, like you I do see that the church is not in any way to blame for AIDS in Africa. I think it was a bit of a stretch. Yes, I think more education could go a great way in overpopulated areas.
