Chapter Four

It was time to roll out the big guns. Figuratively speaking of course. I just knew that Isaac was not going to leave me alone unless..... well, unless I did something. What that something could be I had no idea. If I knew what the something was, all my problems would be solved.

Okay, now that you have to be confused because even I am confused as to what I was just saying, here's what happened next.

****

I was sent to the basement apartment by my mother because "there was a maintenance problem". Her words not mine. The "maintenance problem" was that the toilet wouldn't stop running.

I wish I were kidding.

An unidentified Hanson had called and requested help on how to "jiggle the handle so as to make it stop". I knew some blondes were dumb but I didn't think they were that stupid. Surely one of them could come up with a better reason for me to come down there. Clogged sink, stain on the carpet, anything would have been better than the problem of the running toilet.

I don't even get paid for this.

When I arrived downstairs Isaac was casually watching television while reclining on the couch."Where's the rest of them?"I asked, although I didn't really care.

"Gone."

Surprise, surprise. I get called down here on some lame job and he's the only one around. I decided to ignore him and just go jiggle the stupid toilet handle.

The toilet wasn't running. I checked three times.

Extremely annoyed (to say the least), I walked back into the living room and stood in front of Isaac."I though the toilet was running."

"Oh, it was. I managed to catch it though."

Only extreme self-control kept me from putting my hands around his scrawny little neck."So why am I here then?"

"Dumb and Dumber is on, wanna watch with me?"

I walked back into the bathroom and dropped all three toothbrushes into the toilet before I left. I didn't even feel like guessing which one was his.

"Lisha?"Mom asked softly, holding her hand over the receiver of the phone."Did you put the boys toothbrushes in the toilet when you were down there?"

I carefully studied the allergy commercial."I might have accidentally knocked them in while fixing the toilet for them."

I knew I was going to be punished.

I was right.

****

I hate when mothers know you too well and can figure out what the worst punishment in the world could be for you.

I was to accompany all seven Hanson children to the movies that Friday.

And sit next to Isaac.

At least I could bring Brina. That might help.

Or not.

I'm going with not.

****

I was also to see ANY movie that Isaac wanted to. He insisted on Riding in Cars With Boys. Nobody else wanted to see that, including me, so Brina went with all six remaining Hanson's to see Monsters Inc.

I almost broke down before the movie even started. Once everyone else was out of sight I pleaded with him."Please, please pick another movie. Don't make me see it."

He still made me go in.

I'll bet your shocked to see where things are now heading. Me, begging Isaac Hanson? Not something you'd see everyday.

But I was having another one of my bad feelings, and I knew how the evening would end. I knew I'd never make it through the move and I also knew that Isaac was about to get me right where he wanted me.

We were going to have that talk. I couldn't have predicted exactly where things went from there, but I knew I was going to break down and he was going to hear everything he wanted to hear. When I cry I tell all. He knew that.

He knew what that movie was going to do to me.

He alone knew why I'd run away.
